WELLS – A timely RBI single helped the Cape Elizabeth baseball team narrowly escape Wells’ upset bid Friday.

Sam Kozlowski hit a two-out RBI single in the top of the ninth inning to lift the Capers to a 5-4 win.

Wells trailed 4-2 going into the bottom of the seventh inning, but rallied to tie the game on RBI singles from Charlie Bell and Joey Spinelli.

NOBLE 9, THORNTON ACADEMY 8: Jake Emard hit a two-out, two-run double in the bottom of the seventh to give the Knights (3-9) a win over the Golden Trojans (6-6) at North Berwick.

Emard finished with three RBI, Josh Schultz hit a two-run double and Otto Keisker had three hits and an RBI for Noble.

Drew Lavigne had three hits and three runs scored and Drew Gelinas had two hits and two RBI for Thornton.

YARMOUTH 2, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 1: Calvin Cooper and Tim Sullivan both drove in runs with base hits for the Clippers (7-5) in a win over Gray-New Gloucester (3-9) at Yarmouth.

The Patriots threatened in the sixth with an RBI single from Justin McKenna. Chester Jacobs closed the door for the Clippers with two innings of no-hit relief.

FALMOUTH 7, TRAIP ACADEMY 0: Addison Foltmer struck out seven and walked two in a three-hit shutout, leading the Yachtsmen (10-1) past the Rangers (3-9) at Falmouth.

Thomas Fortier went 2 for 3 with two RBI and Cal Inlow was 3 for 3 with two runs scored for Falmouth.

The Yachtsmen took the lead in the fourth, then tacked on three runs in the fifth and three in the sixth.

GREELY 13, WAYNFLETE 3: Miles Shields led the Rangers (12-0) with three RBI on a pair of singles as Greely defeated Waynflete (6-4) in five innings at the Ballpark in Old Orchard Beach.

The Flyers scored three runs in the third to take a 3-2 lead, but Greely rallied with six runs in the fourth. Bailey Train belted a two-run double and Pat Finnegan drove in two more with a single to help Greely pull ahead.

Michael McDevitt pitched two scoreless innings with five strikeouts to finish the game.

OCEANSIDE 9, GARDINER 7: Thomas Curtis hit a go-ahead RBI double in the sixth, Nick Judge scored him with an RBI single, and the Mariners (8-5) rallied from a 6-0 hole against the visiting Tigers (6-6).

Zach Farin drove in two runs to help Gardiner go up by six in the first two innings.

A three-run homer by Nick Mazurek in the third and a three-run shot by J.T. Tobin in the fifth got Oceanside back in the game. Mazurek struck out nine and allowed three earned runs in six innings for the win.

MOUNT VIEW 11, MARANACOOK 5: Nathan Wren and Kyle Turner hit back-to-back home runs in the first inning to get Mount View (4-9) started in a win over Maranacook (6-6) at Thorndike.

Turner finished 4 for 4 at the plate with three RBI and three runs.

SKOWHEGAN 6, BRUNSWICK 5: Chase Nelson hit an RBI single to drive in Trevor Hisler and the Indians scored twice in the eighth inning to beat the Dragons in a KVAC A game in Skowhegan. Brunswick (3-10) took a 6-5 lead in the top of the eighth inning when Ryan Brescia drove in John Parker with the go-ahead run.

Skowhegan (7-6) answered back when Henry Ametti walked and scored on Hisler’s double.

MT. ABRAM 9, BOOTHBAY 2: Arthur Ryan had a pair of hits, including a two-run single in the seventh-run fifth inning, to lead the Roadrunners to the MVC win in Salem. Jay Chenard struck out nine and walked three to pick up the pitching win. Cormac Miller had a pair of hits for Boothbay.

LAWRENCE 15, LEWISTON 2: The Bulldogs scored 14 runs over the final three innings en route to the KVAC Class A win in Lewiston. Cody Martin, J.T. Nutting and J.J. Bushaw each had two hits for the Bulldogs while Matt Champney tripled.

WINSLOW 9, CAMDEN HILLS 0: Dylan Hapworth pitched perfect game until the sixth inning and Logan Hewes drove in five runs to lead Winslow. Hapworth finished with nine strikeouts and didn’t walk a batter in 51/3 innings while Hewes singled and doubled.

FREEPORT 9, WINDHAM 7: Sam Wogan, Galen Simmons and Clayton Morrison scored two goals apiece as the Falcons (1-7) held off the Eagles (3-6) at Freeport.

CAPE ELIZABETH 5, KENNEBUNK 0: Alex Bornick scored three goals as the Capers (8-1) downed the Rams (8-2) at Cape Elizabeth. Gabe McGinn made four saves for the shutout.
