College Roundup: Nor'easters rout cold Curry, 57-39

MILTON, Mass. - Michaela Flanagan scored 15 points, and Beth Suggs added 13 points and 19 rebounds to lift the University of New England to a 57-39 win over Curry in a women's basketball game Thursday at Milton, Mass.

Flanagan knocked down all four of her 3-point attempts in her 16 minutes off the bench for UNE (8-4, 5-0 Commonwealth Coast).

Kelly Coleman chipped in with 11 points for the Nor'easters, who reeled off 22 unanswered points in a 12-minute span to assume control over the Colonels (6-6, 2-3).

SOUTHERN MAINE C.C. 91, NASHUA C.C. 20: Esther Palmieri finished with 19 points, nine assists and seven steals, and Emily Bard added 19 points and six steals as the Seawolves (10-5, 5-3 YSCC) dominated the Jaguars at Nashua, N.H.

Tiana Burton chipped in with 12 points and eight steals for the Seawolves, who led 48-9 at halftime.

(4) DUKE 82, CLEMSON 45: Elizabeth Williams scored 21 points to help Duke win at home.

Tricia Liston and Haley Peters added 14 points each for the Blue Devils (14-0, 4-0 Atlantic Coast Conference), who never trailed en route to their 32nd consecutive home victory against league competition.

Chelsea Gray had eight points and a career-high 15 assists as Duke shot 58 percent from the floor.

(6) KENTUCKY 65, TEXAS A&M 62: A'dia Mathies scored 23 points and the Wildcats overcame a sluggish first half to rally at Lexington, Ky.

Jennifer O'Neill added 15 points as the Wildcats (15-1, 3-0 SEC) extended school-record winning streaks of 14 games overall and 31 in a row at home.

(9) TENNESSEE 84, MISSOURI 38: Meighan Simmons scored 18 points as Tennessee relied on suffocating defense at Knoxville, Tenn., for its fifth straight victory.

Bashaara Graves added 16 points and eight rebounds for the Volunteers (12-3, 3-0 SEC).

WAKE FOREST 80, (18) FLORIDA STATE: Lakevia Boykin scored a career-high 34 points as Wake Forest (9-6, 2-1 Atlantic Coast Conference) used a second-half surge to upset the Seminoles (12-3, 2-2) at Tallahassee, Fla.

Dearica Hamby added 23 points and Chelsea Douglas had 14 for the Demon Deacons, who led by 11 with 7:01 left before the Seminoles closed to 69-67 with 2:56 remaining.

MEN'S BASKETBALL

JOHNSON & WALES 60, ST. JOSEPH'S 56: Curtis Lucas and Frank Robinson scored 17 points apiece to lead the Wildcats (6-7, 5-1 GNAC) to a win over the Monks (7-5, 3-3) at Providence, R.I.

The Monks trailed by as many as 13 points in the second half before cutting the deficit to 58-56 on a layup by Julio Vasquez with 1:08 left.

The Wildcats put the game out of reach on a pair of free throws by Tom Garrick Jr. with seven seconds remaining.

Matthew Medeiros scored 24 points to pace the Monks. Steve Simonds added 10 points.

CURRY 80, UNE 74: Lambros Papalambros led four players in double figures for Curry, scoring 26 points to lift the Colonels (8-4, 5-0 Commonwealth Coast) to a win over the Nor'easters (2-10, 1-4) at Milton, Mass.

Curry led by as many as 17 points in the second half before UNE went on a 21-6 run to cut the deficit to 65-63 with 7:51 left in regulation. The Colonels responded by scoring the next eight points and led by at least four the rest of the way.

Charles Fenner III and Devin Thompson scored 23 points apiece and combined for seven 3-pointers to pace the Nor'easters.
