FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — Cornerback Darrelle Revis has agreed to contract terms with the New England Patriots, according to his business manager.

The Patriots have not made an announcement regarding Revis.
The agreement was first reported by ESPN, which said it was for one year at $12 million.
At $12 million, Revis would be the highest paid cornerback in the NFL, as he was last year on a $16 million contract.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers released the three-time All-Pro on Wednesday before he was due a $1.5 million bonus. Revis was cut after efforts to trade him and his $16 million salary failed.
Despite injuries last season, Revis played in all 16 games for Tampa Bay. He was selected to the Pro Bowl for the fifth time in six seasons.
The response to the reported signing by NFL insiders and fans on social media was overwhelmingly positive Wednesday evening.
“Martha’s Vineyard to be renamed âRevis Island’ for the next 365 days,” tweeted Megan Cassidy of ESPN, referencing Revis’ popular nickname.
“Revis was the only available player that was an upgrade over Talib, who was excellent in his 1.5 years with the Patriots,” wrote ESPN’s Patriots beat reporter Mike Reiss.
Revis, known for his lock-down coverage in man-to-man defense, would replace cornerback Aqib Talib, who left the Patriots for a six-year contract worth a reported $57 million from the Denver Broncos. Talib was a key for New England last season but left the AFC Championship game with an injury.
