GLENDALE, Ariz. — The Phoenix Coyotes assigned veteran forward Brandon Yip to the Portland Pirates, the club’s AHL affiliate.

Yip, who missed the Pirates’ first two games of the season after he called up to the NHL team, recorded three goals and had five assists in 34 games last season with the Nashville Predators.

In parts of four NHL seasons with the Predators and Colorado Avalance, Yip, 28, has 29 goals and 27 assists in 172 regular-season games and three goals and three assists in 16 Stanley Cup games.
