LEWISTON — Mark Visentin made 45 saves through regulation and overtime, and Brandon Yip scored in the fifth round of the shootout as the Portland Pirates rallied Saturday night for a 3-2 win over the Providence Bruins at the Colisee.

Daine Todd and Brandon McMillan also converted their shootout chances for the Pirates, while Jared Knight and Craig Cunningham scored in the shootout for Providence.
The Pirates twice erased a one-goal deficit, tying the game for the second time on Andy Miele’s power-play goal 6:55 into the third period. The goal came just 22 seconds after Providence’s Joe Morrow was sent off for slashing.
Providence opened the scoring with a power-play goal by Craig Cunningham at 8:37 of the first period. The Bruins outshot Portland 23-7 in the period butcouldn’t add to their lead.
Portland pulled even at 7:52 of the second period when defenseman James Melindy scored his first career goal on a shot from the point, assisted by Miele and Mathieu Brodeur. But the Bruins regained the lead just over a minute later on a goal by Justin Florek.
Niklas Svedberg finished with 37 saves for Providence.
