BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — Randy Jones scored a shorthanded goal on an assist from Andy Miele that gave the Portland Pirates (23-30-2-8) the lead with 7:41 left in the third period and they went on to defeat the Bridgeport Sound Tigers 4-2 on Sunday afternoon in front of 5,002 fans at the Webster Bank Arena.

The Sound Tigers (27-31-2-5) opened the scoring with 9:20 left in the first period on a power-play goal by Jake Newton.

Portland came back to tie the game when Lucas Lessio scored a power-play goal 4:44 into the second period that was assisted by Jordan Szwarz and Cade Fairchild.

Ryan Walters gave the Sound Tigers the lead again when he scored with 4:57 left in the second period.

Portland got the equalizer with 16 seconds left in the second on a power-play goal by Szwarz that was assisted by Lessio and Tim Kennedy.

Jordan Martinook closed the scoring for the Pirates with an empty-net goal with 25 seconds left that was assisted by Mathieu Brodeur.

Goaltender Louis Domingue made 24 saves to earn the win for the Pirates, who held a 29-26 edge in shots on goal despite being outshot 9-4 in the opening period.
