Major League Notebook: Pitcher hit by line drive moved to 60-day DL

The Associated Press

TORONTO - The Toronto Blue Jays moved pitcher J.A. Happ to the 60-day disabled list Friday as the left-hander recovers from injuries after being hit in the head by a line drive earlier this month.

Happ suffered a skull fracture and a sprained right knee when he fell to the ground in pain after being struck behind the left ear by a liner off the bat of Tampa Bay's Desmond Jennings on May 7.

Blue Jays Manager John Gibbons said the decision to move Happ from the 15-day DL to the 60-day DL was not due to a setback in the rehabilitation process but because Happ's knee is still sore.

MARINERS: Seattle completed two days of roster shuffling when it designated infielder Robert Andino for assignment, clearing a spot on the 40-man roster to select catcher Jesus Sucre from Triple-A Tacoma. Seattle also recalled infielder Carlos Triunfel from Tacoma to replace Andino on the big league roster.

YANKEES: First baseman Mark Teixeira expects to play in his first game since hurting his right wrist in early March, suiting up for a minor-league game with Double-A Trenton on Wednesday.

REDS: Left-handed reliever Sean Marshall went on the 15-day disabled list, the second time this season that he's been sidelined by a sore pitching shoulder.

ROYALS: A pediatric nurse said she was in the right place at the right time to revive a 14-year-old girl who collapsed while dancing in the upper deck during a Kansas City game.

Sam Sapenaro, 26, was working her second job as a member of Kauffman Stadium's K-Crew on Thursday night when a nearby fan yelled for help. Sapenaro said she rushed over, found the girl unresponsive and with no pulse, and began performing CPR.
