Track and Field Players to Watch

Maria Curit of Biddeford is a two-time Class A outdoor champion in the long jump, and also won the 400 last year.

McKenzie Gary, center, of Mt. Ararat, edged Imadhi Zagon of Portland for the Class A 55-meter title indoors, and the two sprinters will likely meet again in both the 100 and 200 at the outdoor state meet.

Maria Curit, Biddeford, senior, sprints: The defending Class A champion in the 400 and long jump.

Keila Grigware, Biddeford, senior, throws: The two-time defending Class A champion in the javelin, she also won the shot put last year.

Katherine Harrington, Greely, senior, throws: Won the Class B title in the discus.

Nicole Kirk, Scarborough, junior, sprints: The defending Class A champion in the 200, she also helped the Red Storm win the Class A title in the 1,600 relay.

Abbey Leonardi, Kennebunk, junior, distance: The defending Class A champion in the 1,600 and 3,200, and the Class A record-holder in the 3,200.

Kendra Lobley, Poland, senior, distance: Won the 800 at last year's Class B state meet.

Randi London, Mt. Ararat, senior, throws: The Class A champion in the discus, she also placed second in the shot put.

Emily Mitchell, York, senior, jumps/sprints: Finished second in Class B in the 100 and third in the 200, and also set the Class B indoor record in the long jump.

Carley O'Brien, Traip Academy, senior, hurdles/jumps: Finished second in Class C in the 100 hurdles and long jump, and fourth in the triple jump.

Sarah Perkins, Gorham, junior, hurdles: The indoor Class A champion in the 55 hurdles, she'll compete in both hurdle events.

Amanda Peterson, Gray-New Gloucester, junior, sprints: Finished second in the Class B 200 and fourth in the 100.

Edie Pallozzi, Deering, freshman, distance: Won indoor Class A titles in the 800 and 1,600.

Jenna Serunian, Falmouth, junior, throws: Should join teammate Kate Sparks to score points in the shot put.

Caroline Summa, Cheverus, senior, jumps: Won the Class A title in the high jump.

Boys

Mohammed Dahia, NYA, senior, hurdles: Finished second in the Class C 110 hurdles.

Michael Burgess, Greely, senior, throws: Won the Class B title in the discus and should join teammate Jack Fellows in scoring points in the throws.

McKenzie Gary, Mt. Ararat, junior, sprints/jumps: The defending Class A champion in the long jump, he'll also compete in the triple jump and sprints.

Abshir Horor, Waynflete, junior, distance: Finished second in the Class C 1,600 and fourth in the 800.

Kyle Nealey, Gorham, junior, throws: One of Class A's top competitors in the discus and shot put.

Mike Slovenski, Brunswick, senior, pole vault: The defending Class A champion in the pole vault.

Tanner Storey, Greely, senior, jumps: Won the Class B title in the high jump.

Jack Terwilliger, Cheverus, senior, distance: Won Class A indoor titles in the mile and 2-mile, and also finished second in both events outdoors last year.

Manny Vincent, Westbrook, senior, sprints: Won the indoor Class A 400 title and finished second outdoors last year.

Will Wegener, Falmouth, senior, sprints: Finished second in the Class B 100, 200 and 400.

Imadhi Zagon, Portland, senior, sprints/jumps: Was injured last year but swept the Class A sprints as a sophomore, and also won the long jump and placed second in the high jump.
