PORTLAND — Mike Herrick scored 21 points, including a go-ahead 3-pointer with three minutes remaining, to lead Portland to a 52-48 victory against South Portland in a Southern Maine Activities Association schoolboy basketball game Tuesday night at the Portland Expo.

Portland (13-4) faced a 13-point deficit in the first quarter but came back to make it 37-37 at the end of three.

Peter Donato added nine points, 10 rebounds and five blocks, and Jayvon Pitts-Young had 13 points for the Bulldogs.

Tanner Hyland scored 20 points for South Portland (10-7). Ben Burkey and John Tolan each had 10.

 

THORNTON ACADEMY 56, SCARBOROUGH 55: Jeffrey Gelinas finished with 18 points, and Adam Ek, Justin Pollard and Quinn Richardson-Newton added 11 each for the Golden Trojans (12-5), who held on when a last-second shot by the Red Storm (9-8) fell short at Saco.

John Passarelli had 13 points and Dillon Russo added 11 for Scarborough, which nearly came all the way back from a 43-34 deficit through three quarters.

 

GREELY 45, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 27: Nick Clark scored 14 points and Michael McDevitt added 10 to lead the Rangers (12-5) past the Patriots (3-14) at Cumberland.

Brad McKenney chipped in four assists and three steals for Greely, which used an 18-10 run in the third quarter to go up 34-20.

Austin Keenan had 13 points for Gray-New Gloucester.

BIDDEFORD 66, KENNEBUNK 55: Bobby Cote finished with 27 points, Nicholas Leblond added 11 and Cameron Nadeau 10 to lead the Tigers (9-8) past the Rams (3-14) at Kennebunk.

Ben Wilson led Kennebunk with 13 points. Dylan Barwise added 11.

 

OLD ORCHARD BEACH 57, NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 40: Quincy Grace had 27 points and eight rebounds to lead the Seagulls (10-6) past North Yarmouth Academy (3-13) at Old Orchard Beach.

Zach Seamans added 11 points for Old Orchard. Asad Dahia’s 20 accounted for half of the Panthers’ scoring.

YARMOUTH 58, CAPE ELIZABETH 52: Josh Britten scored 12 of his game-high 24 points early in the third quarter for the Clippers (14-3) against the Capers (7-10) at Yarmouth.

Britten made two 3-pointers, two 2-pointers and two free throws in the first four minutes of the third to help Yarmouth, which trailed 30-26 at halftime, to a 43-40 lead by the end of the quarter.

Christian Henry added 11 points and Chris Knaub had seven assists for the Clippers.

Chad Peterson had 15 points and Chris Robicheaw added 11 for the Capers.

 

BONNY EAGLE 51, WESTBROOK 45: Dustin Cole and Cole Libby scored 13 points each for Bonny Eagle (14-3), which rallied past the Blue Blazes (8-9) at Westbrook.

The Scots trailed 25-18 at the half, but used eight combined points from Cole and Libby in the third quarter to outscore Westbrook 12-3 and take a 30-28 lead. Bonny Eagle widened the lead, then preserved it by making 8 of 10 free throws in the final period.

C.J. Autry scored 11 for Bonny Eagle. David Breunig had 13 and Zachary Bean 10 for Westbrook.

 

WELLS 57, TRAIP ACADEMY 39: Dylan Stevens scored 16 points and Jake Moody had 15 to lead the Warriors (11-6) past the Rangers (4-12) at Wells.

Zach Deshaies added nine points and eight rebounds for Wells. Stevens and Moody each scored five in the second quarter as the Warriors used a 17-5 run to take a 32-15 lead.

Atencio Martin scored 20 points for Traip.

GORHAM 52, WINDHAM 34: Dan Holmes finished with 12 points, Elliott Speirs added 10 and John Woods nine to lead the Rams (4-13) past the Eagles (4-13) at Gorham.

Spencer Hodge paced Windham with eight points.

 

SANFORD 80, NOBLE 51: Ryan Camire scored 10 of his 25 points in the first quarter as the Redskins (9-8) took a 24-6 lead against the Knights (1-16) at North Berwick.

Alex Shain added 10 points for Sanford. Adam Della-Piana had 15 for Noble.

HYDE 57, A.R. GOULD 49: Warsame Mohamed scored 17 points and Chris Moulton chipped in 16 for the Phoenix (15-1), who rallied past A.R. Gould (9-5) in the third quarter at Bath.

Tyquan Ekejiuba finished with 12 points with 10 rebounds and 10 assists, and Jonah Alexander had 10 points, 10 rebounds and four blocks for Hyde.

Trailing 30-26 at halftime, Hyde put together a 10-0 run in the third and was ahead 40-36 to start the fourth.

Zacharia Mohamed had 21 points and Mohamed Ali added 11 for A.R. Gould.

LEAVITT 61, MORSE 40: Zach Goulette scored 13 points to lead the Hornets (14-3) past Morse (4-13) at Bath.

Ted Cole had 19 points and Matt Munster 10 for the Shipbuilders.

 

MARSHWOOD 65, MASSABESIC 25: Matthew Crosby scored 16 points and Jack Verrill added 12 to pace the Hawks (12-5) against the Mustangs (1-16) at Waterboro.

 

POLAND 66, FREEPORT 58: Ricky Bryant and Andrew Peterson each scored 15 points for the Knights (10-7), who outscored the Falcons (3-14) 39-26 in the second half at Poland.

Logan Nichols had six points, and Bryant, Peterson and Jed Quint scored four apiece in the third quarter as the Knights, down 32-27 at halftime, took a 46-42 lead. Quint and Caleb Martin each finished with 12 points.

 

ERSKINE ACADEMY 52, BRUNSWICK 55: Tyler Belanger had 12 points and nine rebounds, and drew a key offensive foul with two minutes left as the Eagles (7-10) beat Brunswick (10-7) at South China.

HOCKEY

KENNEBUNK 4, YARMOUTH 2: Kurt Oakman had two goals for the Rams (10-4), who scored three straight goals early in the third period to beat the Clippers (8-4-1) at Yarmouth.

Bryce Fraser scored after 46 seconds of the third, Oakman made it 3-1 at 1:38 and Tyler Fowles got the final goal about three minutes later.
