FALCONS NOTES: Dating back to last season, Springfield has won seven of its last 10 games against the Pirates. Former Portland goalie Curtis McElhinney, who has started 20 of 28 games, has a goals-against average of 2.08, tops among AHL goalies who have played 1,000 or more minutes. Veteran center Nick Drazinovic has points in 7 of 8 games. Rookie center Ryan Johansen has points in 5 of 6 games.

PIRATES NOTES: The Pirates have won five consecutive games for the first time since the 2010-11 season. In two games against the Falcons this season, defenseman Michael Stone has three goals. Veteran center Alexandre Bolduc, who leads the Pirates with 13 goals, remains among the AHL’s top 10 scorers. Oliver Ekman-Larsson and David Rundblad both rank among the league’s top 10 scoring defensemen.
