Boys' Roundup: Powers sharp as Cheverus takes opener

MARSHWOOD 2, WINDHAM 1: Robert Jones pitched a three-hitter with 10 strikeouts and one walk as Marshwood won an opener at Windham.

With the score 1-1, Matt Brenner led off the fourth inning with a triple and scored on a sacrifice fly by Max McCoomb.

Shawn Francoeur allowed five hits, struck out three and walked one for Windham.

LEAVITT 7, MAINE CENTRAL INSTITUTE 6: The Hornets (2-0) scored four runs in the seventh inning after two outs to down the Huskies (0-2) at Pittsfield.

Levi Morin doubled home the winning run. Brian Bedard singled and doubled, and Tyler Hutchinson added two singles for the Hornets.

Austin Toman and Charlie Moriarty had RBI singles, and Cameron Michaud and Dylan Waltrous doubled for MCI.


MARSHWOOD 14, GORHAM 5: Drew Hale had four goals and two assists to pace the Hawks (2-2) over the Rams (0-3) at South Berwick.

Sam Woodman and Matt Scremin each added three goals and an assist for Marshwood.

CONY 10, OXFORD HILLS 2: Austin Davis scored three goals to lead the Rams (1-2) over Oxford Hills (0-2) at Augusta.

Joel Bennett and Tyler Leet scored two goals, and John Bennett, Dan Erbe and Jon Saban also scored for Cony. Brendan Surette, Mike Luber and Saban each had assists. Ian Lejanhud scored twice for the Vikings.

BRUNSWICK 12, LEWISTON 4: Ryan Croatti had four goals as the Dragons (3-0) downed the Blue Devils (2-1) at Brunswick.

Cameron Glover had three goals and an assist, and T.J. Sullivan added three goals for Brunswick.

Tanner Hubbard scored twice and had an assist for Lewiston.
