Major League Notebook: Rays' ace set to rejoin the rotation Tuesday

The Associated Press

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - AL Cy Young Award winner David Price will rejoin the Tampa Bay Rays' rotation Tuesday at Houston.

Price went on the DL for the first time in his career May 16, and made two minor league rehab starts with Class A Charlotte.

Price struggled this year before getting hurt, going 1-4 with a 5.24 ERA. He was 20-5 with a 2.56 ERA last season.

WHITE SOX: Slugger Paul Konerko remains sidelined because of back pain.

Konerko had six painkilling injections Friday, a day after an MRI, and was not available for the doubleheader against Cleveland.

BRAVES: Eight-time All-Star Chipper Jones had his No. 10 jersey retired prior to Atlanta's game against Arizona. The former third baseman retired after last season's playoff loss to St. Louis, having played his entire 19-year career with the Braves.

BREWERS: First baseman Corey Hart will have surgery to repair cartilage damage in his right knee and miss the remainder of the season.

ROCKIES: Closer Rafael Betancourt was activated from the 15-day disabled list and right-hander Juan Nicasio was optioned to Triple-A Colorado Spring.

Betancourt was 1-3 with a 3.20 ERA and 11 saves in 22 chances before straining his right groin strain June 1.

DIAMONDBACKS: Third baseman Eric Chavez was activated from the 15-day DL. Prior to suffering a right oblique strain on May 30 he was hitting .325 with seven homers and 25 RBI in 38 games.
