WATERBORO – Coach Mike Giordano earned his 200th career win Friday night as South Portland cruised to a 65-28 victory against Massabesic in an SMAA schoolgirl basketball game.

Danica Gleason scored 15 points, Hope Owen had 14 and Holly Black 12 for the Red Riots (6-0), who built a 22-3 first-quarter lead against the Mustangs (1-5).

CHEVERUS 57, MARSHWOOD 33: Brooke Flaherty had 16 points and seven rebounds, and Georgia Ford scored 14 points to lead Cheverus (6-0) against Marshwood (1-5) at Portland.

Kylie Libby chipped in 10 rebounds and Mikayla Mayberry had five steals, helping the Stags put it away after Marshwood got within six in the second half.

SANFORD 64, KENNEBUNK 24: Morgan Fogg scored 17 points and Heather LeBlanc added 13 for the Spartans (4-1), who took an 18-5 first-quarter lead and cruised over the Rams (1-5) at Kennebunk.

LINCOLN ACADEMY 42, WINSLOW 39: Jennifer Genthner had 14 points as the Eagles (2-4) edged the Black Raiders (2-4) at Newcastle.

Taylor Oliver chipped in nine points and Leslie Sandefur scored eight for Lincoln, which went up 25-20 at the half and held on.

Devin Fitzgibbons had 13 points and Alyssa Wood added 11, each with a pair of 3-pointers for Winslow.

MT. ARARAT 44, CONY 41: Mallory Nelson scored the go-ahead points on a three-point play with less than a minute left to lift the Eagles (6-0) over the Rams (3-3) at Topsham.

Caitlyn LaFountain finished with 13 points to pace Mt. Ararat, which trailed 24-17 at halftime.

Cony was paced by Emily Quirion with 13 points, including three 3-pointers.

Alyssah Dennett and Josie Lee added 10 points apiece for the Rams.

WESTBROOK 43, NOBLE 32: Paige Baldwin had nine points and eight rebounds, and 10 other players scored for the Blue Blazes (3-3) against the Knights (0-7) at Westbrook.

Westbrook started the second half with an 8-0 run, taking a 32-20 lead.

Chandler Waterman scored 11 points for Noble.

HOCKEY

BIDDEFORD 2, WINSLOW 2: Britany Whitaker scored with just under two minutes remaining in regulation to secure a tie for the Black Raiders (4-6) against the Tigers (4-5) at Biddeford.

After Tiffany Gagne scored for Biddeford in the second period, Jennifer Poulin tied it 9:12 into the third. Annmarie Rowe scored two minutes later to give the Tigers a 2-1 lead before Whitaker tied it again to send the game to overtime.

LEWISTON 4, BRUNSWICK 1: Erica Lemieux had a hat trick to spark the Blue Devils (7-2) past the Dragons (2-6) at Brunswick.

Erin Hubbard tacked on a goal for Lewiston.

Rachel Moroney scored for Brunswick

Dragons goalie Claire Mendes made 36 saves. Blue Devils keeper Brianna Lajoie recorded nine stops.
