    Portland majoring in the minors

Two years ago, Portland was on the lower end of the nation’s top 100 minor league sports markets. Now, boosted by the addition of a basketball team and the tenure of two longtime franchises, the city has been named the No. 5 market nationwide.

The Sports Business Journal attributes Portland’s jump in the rankings to the fact that it has one of the highest attendance-to-population ratios of any multiple-team market.
