LACROSSE
Lao-Gosneys of Raymond join Major League Lacrosse
Less than one week after Roman Lao-Gosney was picked up by the Hamilton Nationals of Major League Lacrosse, twin brother Cameron signed with MLL's Charlotte Hounds.
The brothers, who live in Raymond, are 2008 graduates of Hebron Academy. Both earned All-Patriot League honors while playing four seasons at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pa.
This spring, Roman Lao-Gosney scored 20 goals as Lehigh captured the Patriot League title and a berth in the NCAA tournament. During his four seasons with the Mountain Hawks, Cameron Lao-Gosney scored 77 goals and had 34 assists.
BASEBALL
FCBL: Davidson Peguero had two hits with three RBI to lead the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs (1-4) to a 4-3 victory over the Old Orchard Beach Raging Tide (2-3) at Leominster, Mass.
Peguero hit a three-run homer in the third inning and doubled in the seventh.
Tito Lluberes homered in the fifth inning for the Raging Tide's last run.
BASKETBALL
NBA: The Charlotte Bobcats narrowed their coaching search to three candidates -- former Utah Jazz coach Jerry Sloan, Indiana Pacers assistant Brian Shaw and Los Angeles Lakers assistant Quin Snyder -- according to a person familiar with the situation. The person spoke on the condition of anonymity because the team has not made its list of candidates public.
• The Philadelphia 76ers are interviewing potential replacements for president of basketball operations Rod Thorn, team sources revealed to the Philadelphia Daily News.
HOCKEY
NHL: Philadelphia Flyers forward Ian Laperriere officially announced his retirement.
Laperriere sat out the last two seasons with post-concussion syndrome after being struck in the right eye with a puck during the 2010 playoffs.
Laperriere played in 1,083 games in 16 seasons with five teams.
BOXING
INVESTIGATION SOUGHT: Top Rank CEO Bob Arum, the promoter for Manny Pacquiao and Timothy Bradley, is asking the Nevada attorney general's office for a full investigation into the controversial scoring of their championship fight in Las Vegas last weekend.
Bradley took the welterweight title from defending champion Pacquiao on Saturday night, ending his seven-year unbeaten run.
Bradley won 115-113 on two scorecards, while losing by the same margin on the third. The decision was roundly booed by the crowd at the MGM Grand arena.
AUTO RACING
NASCAR: Kurt Busch will return to Phoenix Racing when his one-week NASCAR suspension for verbally abusing a media member ends today.
Busch met Tuesday with team owner James Finch, and the two agreed to move forward to this weekend's race at Michigan International Speedway.
