GORHAM – Nick Greatorex delivered a key triple in the first game Monday and Alex McCarthy a key triple in the second game as Gorham swept an American Legion doubleheader from Falmouth, 4-3 and 6-2.

Greatorex tripled to deep center before scoring on Brian Morin’s single as Gorham (9-0) broke a 2-2 tie with a pair of fourth-inning runs in the first game.

McCarthy tripled home Andrew Schmidt and Dillon Turner in the second game as Gorham broke a 2-2 tie with four runs in the fifth against Falmouth (2-5-1). Schmidt had singled home Greatorex before Tom Hazelton scored on Turner’s single.

SACO-BIDDEFORD SAVINGS 10, FIRST TITLE 0: Derek Bouchard hit a two-run double and Sam Stauble added a two-run single during a seven-run fifth inning as Westbrook (7-2-1) downed Cheverus (1-8) in five innings at Westbrook.

Patrick Weimer threw a three-hitter with one strikeout and two walks to earn the win.

Brett Goodnow also drove in two runs and Stauble, Zack Bean and Keenan Lowe each had two hits.

YARMOUTH 4, BRISTOL SEAFOOD 3: Matt Ingalls scored the winning run on Caleb Uhl’s sacrifice fly to right in the bottom of the seventh, giving Yarmouth (8-4) a victory over Deering (4-5) in Yarmouth.

SACO BAY PT 8, SACO-BIDDEFORD SAVINGS 2: Don Boch scattered six hits over six innings to earn the win as York (6-3-1) downed Biddeford (6-5) at York.

Cole Merritt and Anthony Sciaudone paced York with two hits apiece.

Biddeford got their runs on a two-run homer by Nate Hout.

MASSABESIC 5, BONANZA 2: Remi Gaetijens struck out 10 while throwing a five-hitter for Massabesic (3-8) in a win over Sanford (4-8) at Sanford.

Caleb Campbell drove in a pair of runs for Massabesic.

STAPLES CROSSING 7, NOBLE 3: Rober Jones hit a two-run single in the bottom of the sixth to break open a 4-3 game and Marshwood (9-1) held on for a win over Noble (1-9) at South Berwick.

MORRILL POST 8, CUMBERLAND 1: Jon Vickers singled in each of his three at-bats, scored three runs and drove home a fourth to pace South Portland (2-7) over Greely (4-3-1) in South Portland.

JUNIOR LEGION

CAPE ELIZABETH 14, LIBBY-MITCHELL 4: Nate Weare doubled home two runs and scored a third as Cape Elizabeth (6-5) broke open a 6-4 game with eight runs in the sixth inning against Scarborough (1-8) in Cape Elizabeth.

Nate Ingalls doubled home Ryan Weare with the eighth run to invoke the mercy rule.

FIRST TITLE 5, FAYETTE-STAPLES 1: Drake Dumond struck out six while pitching a complete-game four-hitter, knocked home the tying run and scored the winning run to lead Cheverus (4-6) over Thornton (2-7-1) in Portland.

Dumond gave up a run in the top of the first, but singled home Bailey Small in the bottom of the inning before scoring the go-ahead run on a groundout by Chris Vallee. Dumond added an RBI double in the fifth as Cheverus pulled away with single runs in the second, third and fifth innings.

SILVER KNIGHTS 4, RAGING TIDE 0: Tom Hudon threw seven scoreless innings and Johnny Adams drove in a pair of runs to lead Nashua (16-6) to a win over Old Orchard Beach (11-13) at The Ballpark.

Aaron Wilson and Phil Sciretta had two hits apiece for Old Orchard Beach.

NECBL

MAINERS 1, SCHOONERS 0: Nate LaPointe hit an RBI single with one out in the top of the eighth inning to lift Sanford over Mystic at Groton, Conn.

Nick Poore gave up one hit and one walk while striking out eight over six innings for Sanford (10-11).

Aaron Casper closed out the game with three scoreless innings to earn the win over the Schooners (12-10).

LITTLE LEAGUE SOFTBALL

KENNEBUNK 13, ROCKLAND 0: Bailey Cain and Britney Gregoire had three hits apiece and Cain, Olivia Howe and Kylie Defeo each threw two scoreless inning as Kennebunk downed Rockland in an elimination game at the 11-12 state tournament in Rockland.

SOUTH LEWISTON 7, ELLSWORTH 2: Jordan Mynahan hit a double and a single to pace South Lewiston as it scored five runs in the second to pull away from Ellsworth in an elimination game.
