ORONO – Syracuse strung together a 17-0 run in the second half Tuesday night to put away the University of Maine 68-44 in a nonconference women’s basketball game at Alfond Arena.

Maine rallied within 47-40 on a jumper by Courtney Anderson with 8:41 left, but Elashier Hall then made a jumper and a 3-pointer to start the rally that held Maine scoreless for the next 8:30.

Kayla Alexander led the Orange with 19 points. Hall followed with 12.

The Black Bears closed with eight straight points to trail 32-28 at halftime.

Ashleigh Roberts had 10 points to pace the Black Bears. Brittany Wells finished with eight points, and Anderson and Mikaela Gustafsson added seven apiece.

Odyssey Sims added 18 points, and Destiny Williams had 14 points and 12 rebounds for the Bears, who have won 42 straight games. They play fourth-ranked Stanford in Hawaii on Friday.

 

(22) OKLAHOMA STATE 74, MISSOURI STATE 71: Liz Donohoe scored 24 points and Tiffany Bias made four free throws in the final 24 seconds as Oklahoma State (2-0) held off Missouri State (0-1) at Springfield, Mo..

Lindsey Keller had 14 points and 10 rebounds for the Cowboys.
