BOYS

1. Bonny Eagle: Lost some seniors from last year’s third-place state championship team, but has multi-event star Tyson Goodale. 

2. Cheverus: For the first time in a long time, the Stags could be a favorite at the Class A state meet with their top-scoring sprinters, jumpers, hurdlers and throwers. Cheverus was the runner-up at the indoor state meet, and runner-up at last year’s outdoor Class A state meet. 

3. Falmouth: Finished fourth at the Class B state meet indoors and tied for first at the Class B state meet outdoors last year.

4. Sanford: Much of last year’s Class A state championship team has graduated; however, some powerful returning athletes and new additions will make things interesting. 

5. York: Tied for first at the Class B outdoor state meet last year and won the school’s second straight Class B state title indoors this year. Lots of state champs from both teams will be competing this spring.

GIRLS

1. Thornton Academy: Lost some athletes from its second-place indoor state team to other sports, but should be in the mix come championship time.

2. Bonny Eagle: Brings back some key top scorers from its fourth-place outdoor state team, and is are coming off a third-place finish at the indoor Class A state meet. 

3. Cheverus: A small team but it’s led by top scorers from the fourth-place Class A indoor state team, including Kiera Murray, who won the 2-mile.

 4. Brunswick: Finished 12th at last year’s outdoor meet and graduated a few key seniors, but it also brings back some underclassmen who should take a high-scoring role. 

5. Greely: After finishing second at the Class B indoor meet this winter and at the Class B outdoor meet last year, Greely can never be discounted as a contender.
