Football Roundup: Tigers' defense stymies Portland

BIDDEFORD - Nick Leblond threw for one touchdown and passed for another Friday night to lead Biddeford to a 12-0 victory against Portland in a Western Class A football game at Waterhouse Field.

Matt Cote had the touchdown reception for the Tigers (2-4), who were led defensively by Brian Hall and Pat Wilson against the Bulldogs (4-2).

Brian Gelinas had 20 carries for 85 yards for Biddeford.

FRYEBURG ACADEMY 44, FALMOUTH 6: Devin Dockery scored three touchdowns as the Raiders (3-3) handled the Yachtsmen (1-5) at Falmouth.

Dockery had touchdown runs of 34 and 67 yards in the first quarter, when the Raiders built a 22-0 lead. He added a 2-yard run in the third quarter.

Zachary Sheehan had an 18-yard touchdown run and returned an interception 30 yards for another score.

Andrew Roscoe had a 4-yard TD run and threw a conversion pass to Kyle Bonner. Bonner and Sheehan each rushed for a conversion.

Austin Wheeler had a 58-yard TD run in the fourth quarter for Falmouth.

GREELY 41, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 0: Drew Hodge threw three touchdown passes to lead the Rangers (5-1) past the Patriots (1-5) at Gray.

Svenn Jacobson had scoring receptions of 60 and 77 yards, and a 56-yard rushing TD.

GARDINER 41, OCEANSIDE 6: Dennis Meehan rushed for one touchdown and passed for two more as the Tigers (4-2) pulled away from Oceanside (2-4) at Rockland.

OLD TOWN 36, MORSE 28: Braden Upshaw rushed for three touchdowns and Ethan Swedberg added two as the Coyotes (1-5) downed Morse (2-4) at Old Town.

D'Vaughan Myers ran for two touchdowns and caught one of Kevin McKellar's two scoring passes for the Shipbuilders. The other went to Keegan Drouin.

SANFORD 46, SOUTH PORTLAND 12: Alex Shain ran for 202 yards on 18 carries and scored five touchdowns, including a 60-yard interception return, for the Spartans (3-3), who scored 32 unanswered points to beat the Red Riots (1-5) at South Portland.

Josh Schroder rushed for 112 yards and a touchdown, and also caught three passes for 35 yards for the Spartans, and Zach Fulton recovered a fumble in the end zone.

Cody Mooney of Sanford completed 5 of 7 passes for 58 yards, rushed for one 2-point conversion and completed a pass to Jake Dexter on another.

South Portland led 6-0 on a 5-yard run by Duncan Preston in the first quarter. Joey DiBiase scored on a 1-yard run in the second that cut it to 14-12.
