Natanis has hosted the high school team and individual state championships for more than 20 years, with Browne serving as tournament director. Browne is a member of the Professional Golfers' Association of America.
Webber was one of the first promoters of golf in Maine with his annual Golf in Maine booklets. They first appeared in 1930 and ran for over 20 years. Webber was a longtime member of the Bath Country Club and also an original member of the Maine State Seniors Golf Association.
The golf tournament will start with a noon shotgun. Cost of the tournament and banquet is $90 per person or $360 for a foursome. For the banquet only, it's $40 per person. Checks should be made payable to the Maine Golf Hall of Fame, 900 Elm St., Newport 04953. The deadline is Aug. 31.
The first players to announce they're playing in the Harris Golf Charity Classic are defending champion Sherri Turner, Pat Bradley, Rosie Jones and Nancy Scranton. The second annual Legends Tour event is Sept. 14-15 at Falmouth. Tickets are on sale at www.harrisgolfonline.com.
The 13th annual Matt Gaudet tournament will be played Aug. 9 at Dunegrass in Old Orchard Beach. The tournament benefits the Matt Gaudet trust fund. Gaudet was an All-State athlete at Mountain Valley High and an All-American basketball player at Colby College in the early 1990s. He later, however, was in an accident that left him as a quadriplegic.
The money raised in the tournament goes toward Gaudet's medical bills. The event starts at 1 p.m. and the entry fee is $150. Contact Glenn McCrum at: firstname.lastname@example.org or go to gaudetgolf.com for the registration form.
The third annual Maine Basketball Hall of Fame scramble will take place Aug. 2 at Aroostook Valley in Fort Fairfield. Entry fee is $60 per person. Interested golfers should contact Larry Gardner at 551-5001 or go to www.mainebasketballhall offame.com
