Maine Colleges: UMaine edges UNH, clinches playoff berth

ORONO -- Lisa Bijman scored the equalizer in the 68th minute and assisted on Maddi Hill's goal less than five minutes later as the University of Maine rallied for a 2-1 win over New Hampshire in an America East women's soccer match Sunday.

Meagan Price-Leibenzeder made four saves to earn her first win of the season for the Black Bears (7-6-2, 3-3-1 America East) who clinched a berth in the conference tournament.

UNH (5-9-2, 3-2-1) opened the scoring midway through the first half on a goal by Kirstyn Corder.

AMHERST 4, BOWDOIN 1: Kate Sisk and Meghan Kim each collected a goal and an assist apiece as the 12th-ranked Lord Jeffs (9-1-1, 6-1-1 NESCAC) downed the Polar Bears (9-3, 5-3) at Amherst, Mass.

Bowdoin's goal came from Audrey Phillips. 

HAMILTON 2, COLBY 0: Alex Rimmer and Charlotte Cosgrove scored to lead the host Continentals (8-3-1, 5-3-1 NESCAC) over the Mules (7-5, 3-5).

ST. JOSEPH'S 8, UM-PRESQUE ISLE 0: Ashley Beaulieu and Kim Jordan each scored twice as the Monks (7-4-2) tallied seven first-half goals and cruised over the Owls (4-9) at Standish.

FIELD HOCKEY

BOWDOIN 1, AMHERST 0: Katie Riley scored on a pass from Cathleen Smith 2:13 into overtime to lift the third-ranked Polar Bears (11-1, 7-1 NESCAC) over the 15th-ranked Lord Jeffs (7-4, 4-4) at Amherst, Mass.

COLBY 2, HAMILTON 1: Caitlin Murray scored off a penalty corner on an assist from Courtney Erskine in the 44th minute to lift the Mules (5-7, 1-7 NESCAC) over the Continentals (0-12, 0-9) at Clinton, N.Y.

Erskine opened the scoring on a penalty corner with no time left in the first half.

NORTHEASTERN 4, MAINE 3: Nicky Graham scored off a breakaway 7:50 into overtime to lift the 10th-ranked Huskies (11-3) over the 25th-ranked Black Bears (9-7) at Durham, N.H.

Holly Stewart scored a pair of goals for the Black Bears, who trailed 3-1 at halftime. Hannah Keating tied it with 8:44 left in regulation.

MEN'S SOCCER

AMHERST 1, BOWDOIN 0: Greg Singer headed in a corner kick in the 40th minute as the Lord Jeffs (11-0-1, 7-0-1 NESCAC) blanked the visiting Polar Bears (7-3-2, 3-3-2) for their 11th shutout of the season.

HAMILTON 2, COLBY 0: Hennie Bosman and Anthony Balbo scored for the Continentals (4-6-2, 2-5-2 NESCAC) against the Mules (3-7-2, 0-6-2) at Clinton, N.Y.

ST. JOSEPH'S 3, UM-PRESQUE ISLE 0: Zach Johnson scored one goal and assisted on another, and Fabrice Iraduha had a pair of assists to lead the Monks (9-6) past the Owls (6-9) at Standish.
