BALTIMORE – Troy Barnies had 25 points and 13 rebounds to lead the University of Maine to an 82-67 victory over Maryland-Baltimore County in an America East Conference men’s basketball game Saturday.

Barnies scored 15 points in the first half to help the Black Bears (8-7, 2-1 America East) take a 38-33 lead after falling behind 5-0 at the start.

A jumper by Chris De La Rosa, who led the Retrievers (1-14, 0-2) with 24 points and eight assists, cut Maine’s lead to 41-37 early in the second half.

The Black Bears answered with an 11-4 run that included five points by Raheem Singleton to go ahead 52-41 with 14:07 remaining.

Gerald McLemore scored 16 points, Singleton 15 and Terrance Mitchell 14 for Maine.

COLBY 69, BATES 62: Eric Beaulieu had 17 points and eight rebounds and Christian Van Loenen added 12 points and six assists as the Mules (7-6) rallied past the Bobcats (8-5) at Lewiston.

Brian Ellis led the Bobcats with 19 points.

UMASS-DARTMOUTH 73, USM 63: Brandon Stephens scored 25 points as the Corsairs (5-7, 2-1 Little East) beat the Huskies (8-5, 0-3) at Gorham.

Otis Smith had 18 points for Southern Maine, including four 3-pointers.

ST. JOSEPH’S 81, EMMANUEL 67: Zach O’Brien had 21 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists to lead the Monks (6-4, 2-1 GNAC) past the Saints (2-7, 1-2) at Boston.

O’Brien scored 11 of his points in the first half as St. Joseph’s built a 33-25 lead. Chris Petzy added 16 points and Tyler Kelley finished with 14.

BOWDOIN 72, UM-FARMINGTON 70: Ryan O’Connell had 19 points and Will Hanley added 15 points and nine rebounds as Bowdoin (9-2) edged the Beavers (4-6) at Farmington.

NEC 71, UNE 44: Joe Farragher had 13 points to lead New England College (11-1, 1-0 Commonwealth Coast) past UNE (2-11, 0-1) at Biddeford.

Chas Rentrope and Marcus Winn each scored 10 for UNE.

SMCC 94, JOHN ABBOTT 60: Josh Mackie scored 28 points to lead the Seawolves to a win at South Portland.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

USM 84, UMASS-DARTMOUTH 42: Erin McNamara, Kaylie DeMillo, and Haley Jordan each had 11 points as the Huskies (7-6, 2-1 Little East) cruised past the Corsairs (3-9, 0-3) at Gorham.

McNamara added seven assists.

BOWDOIN 80, EMMANUEL 65: Five players scored in double figures scoring for the Polar Bears (11-1) as they downed the Saints (4-6) at Boston.

Colleen Sweeney had 14 points and nine rebounds for Bowdoin, which took a 34-26 halftime lead and pulled away by shooting 15 of 30 from the floor in the second half. Katie Bergeron added 12 points, Amy Hackett had 11 and Alexa Barry and Nicole Coombe each scored 10.

COLBY 98, THOMAS 51: Jules Kowalsi had 18 points as the Mules (9-2) routed the Terriers (2-6) at Waterville.

UNE 80, NEC 41: Carrie Bunnell scored 11 of her season-high 22 points during a 26-0 run to close out the first half as the Nor’easters (8-5, 1-0 Commonwealth Coast) downed New England College (7-6, 0-1) at Biddeford.

Beth Suggs chipped in with 15 points and nine rebounds for UNE, which scored 36 points off turnovers and had a 28-0 advantage in bench scoring.

JOHN ABBOTT 74, SMCC 53: Christina Ricci scored 31 points for the Seawolves in a loss at South Portland.

MEN’S HOCKEY

NEC 3, USM 1: Niko Uola scored three times to lead New England College (4-6-1, 3-4 ECAC East) past the Huskies (4-6-2, 2-5) at Gorham.

Jon Rutt scored for Southern Maine with 21 seconds left in the first.

ST. ANSELM 6, UNE 2: Timothy King scored three goals to lead the Hawks (6-3, 6-3 ECAC East) over the Nor’easters (2-9, 0-7) at Biddeford.

Jack Nolin and Sean Sullivan scored for UNE and Connor Brogan made 58 saves.

BOWDOIN 6, ST. MICHAEL’S 5: Daniel Weiniger, Kyle Lockwood and Jay Livermore each scored during a one-minute stretch midway through the third period as the Polar Bears (8-2, 5-2 ECAC East/NESCAC) rallied from a 4-3 deficit and held off the Purple Knights (5-6, 3-4) at South Burlington, Vt.

NORWICH 7, COLBY 2: The Cadets (8-4-1) scored four unanswered goals in an 11-minute span of the third to put away the Mules (2-8-1) at Norwich, Vt.

Wil Hartigan scored twice for Colby, pulling the Mules within one on a power-play goal at 2:33 of the third.

WOMEN’S HOCKEY

NEC 2, COLBY 1: Sam Hippern scored with 3:48 left to lift New England College (7-3-1) past Colby (5-8) at Henniker, N.H. Marissa Simmons scored for Colby 32 seconds in.

BOWDOIN 6, USM 2: Kayte Holtz scored four goals to lead the Polar Bears (7-3-1) over the Huskies (3-8-1) at Gorham.

Alex Smith and Christen Hart scored for USM.

BOSTON COLLEGE 6, MAINE 1: Taylor Wasylk scored twice to lead BC (13-3-4, 7-1-2 Hockey East) past the Black Bears (9-9-4, 3-5-2) at Orono.

Myriam Croussette scored for the Black Bears and Brittany Ott made 26 saves.
