ORONO — Troy Barnies scored 20 points and pulled down 14 rebounds to lead the University of Maine to a 64-50 victory over New Hampshire in an America East Conference men’s basketball game Tuesday night.

The Black Bears (13-7, 7-1 America East) have won 13 of their last 17 meetings against New Hampshire and six straight overall.

Maine posted a 45-31 rebounding edge and outscored the Wildcats (8-12, 2-6) in the paint, 29-19.

Gerald McLemore scored 13 for the Black Bears, who held New Hampshire to 5-of-23 shooting from 3-point range.

Maine led 29-24 at halftime and extended its lead to 46-30 on a 3-pointer by McLemore with 14:56 left to play.

ST. JOSEPH’S 77, RIVIER 57: Zach O’Brien had 20 points as the Monks (11-5, 8-1 GNAC) beat the Raiders (9-6, 4-4) at Standish.

Tyler Kelley added 16 points and Matthew Medeiros 15 for St. Joseph’s, which took control with an 18-9 surge late in the first half.

 

UMASS-BOSTON 76, USM 75: Isaac Jenkins hit 3-pointer with six-tenths of a second remaining to give the Beacons (8-9, 2-6 Little East) a win over the Huskies (9-9, 1-7) at Boston.

Devin Chambers had 20 points and Sean Bergeron added 19 for the Huskies.

(1) OHIO STATE 87, (12) PURDUE 64: William Buford had 19 points, Jared Sullinger added 17 and Ohio State (21-0, 8-0 Big Ten) rolled past Purdue (17-4, 6-2) at Columbus, Ohio.

 

(5) UCONN 76, MARQUETTE 68: Freshman Jeremy Lamb had 24 points and Connecticut (17-2, 5-2 Big East) went on a late 13-0 run to beat Marquette (13-8, 4-4) at Milwaukee.

 

(6) KANSAS 82, COLORADO 78: Freshman Josh Selby scored 17 points and Kansas (19-1, 4-1 Big 12) scored its last nine points from the free-throw line to hold off Colorado (14-7, 3-3) at Boulder, Colo.

SETON HALL 90, (9) SYRACUSE 68: Jeremy Hazell had 28 points as visiting Seton Hall (9-12, 3-6 Big East) handed Syracuse (18-3, 5-3) its third straight loss.

 

(24) FLORIDA 104, GEORGIA 91: Chandler Parsons scored half of his 18 points in the second overtime to lead Florida (16-4, 5-1 SEC) past Georgia (14-5, 3-3) at Athens, Ga.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

USM 72, UMASS-BOSTON 39: Courtney Cochran 12 points and 13 rebounds for her 10th double-double of the season, leading the Huskies (12-6, 7-1 Little East) over the Beacons (11-7, 2-6) at Boston.

Renee Nicholas had 14 points and four steals, and Erin McNamara added 13 points on 5-for-6 shooting for USM.

COLBY 69, REGIS 56: Diana Manduca, Rachael Mack and Jacky McLaughlin each scored 11 points as the White Mules (13-3) downed the Pride (9-8) at Weston, Mass.

McLaughlin made a 3-pointer and a field goal during an 11-0 run in the second half that gave Colby 55-42 lead.

 

(19) GEORGETOWN 65, (8) WEST VIRGINIA 60: Sugar Rodgers scored 30 points, including a falling-down layup with 50 seconds to play, as Georgetown (16-5, 4-3 Big East) topped West Virginia (19-2, 5-2) at Washington.

(12) DEPAUL 67, CINCINNATI 48: Sam Quigley set a career high with seven 3-pointers and tied her season high with 23 points as DePaul (20-2, 7-0 Big East) rolled to a win at Cincinnati (8-11, 1-6).

MEN’S HOCKEY

BOWDOIN 7, ASSUMPTION 1: Daniel Weiniger had two goals and an assist to lead the Polar Bears (12-2) over Assumption (7-11) at Brunswick.

Colin Downey and Ollie Koo each had a goal and an assist.
