GORHAM - Jordan Grant led four players in double figures with a game-high 21 points as 13th-ranked Southern Maine (16-0, 6-0) pulled away from UMass-Boston (10-6, 2-4) in the second half for a 70-54 win in a Little East women's basketball game on Tuesday.
Nicole Garland chipped in with 15 points, and Rebecca Knight added 14 points and nine rebounds for the Huskies.
The game was knotted 26-26 at halftime before the Huskies broke it open after intermission, leading by as many as 20 points.
NHTI 73, SOUTHERN MAINE CC 59: Allura Leblanc finished with a game-high 30 points and 13 rebounds to lead to lead New Hampshire Technical Institute (11-4, 6-1) past the Seawolves (10-6, 5-4) in a Yankee Small College Conference game at South Portland.
Esther Palmieri led the Seawolves with 13 points.
UNE 63, EASTERN NAZARENE 40: Beth Suggs scored 13 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as the University of New England (10-4, 7-0 CCC) defeated Eastern Nazarene (7-6, 3-4), at Biddeford.
The Nor'Easters trailed 29-28 at halftime, but capitalized on 11 steals in the second half to outscore the visitors, 35-11.
Kelly Coleman was the high scorer for UNE with 17 points.
ST. JOSEPH'S 74, SIMMONS 46: Danyelle Shufelt scored 20 points for St. Joseph's (7-6, 1-1 GNAC) in a win over Simmons College (2-9, 0-1), at Standish. Shufelt scored 18 points in the first half to help the Monks take a 47-22 lead by halftime.
Abby Young had 14 points for the Monks, while Morgan Cahill added 11.
BOWDOIN 70, HUSSON 29: Kirsten Prue scored 10 points to lead the way for the Polar Bears (8-6) as they opened the game on a 13-1 run and never trailed in a win over the Eagles (4-9) at Bangor.
Kaitlin Donahoe, Shannon Brady, Siena Mitman and Megan Phelps added nine points apiece for Bowdoin.
(2) NOTRE DAME 79, GEORGETOWN 64: Kayla McBride scored 17 points, and Skylar Diggins had 15 points and nine assists as Notre Dame (15-1, 4-0 Big East) cruised at South Bend, Ind., for its 10th straight win.
(3) CONNECTICUT 72, (15) LOUISVILLE 58: Stefanie Dolson and Bria Hartley each scored 16 points to lead UConn (15-1, 3-1 Big East) to a win over the Cardinals (14-4, 2-2) at Hartford, Conn.
THERE IS only one undefeated basketball team left in Division I -- the Duke women.
The fourth-ranked Blue Devils (15-0, 5-0 Atlantic Coast Conference) have an average margin of victory of more than 30 points.
Two years ago, Duke was the last unbeaten women's team at 20-0 entering its visit to UConn, but lost by 36 points.
UM-FARMINGTON 66, BOWDOIN 62: The University of Maine-Farmington (11-3) defeated Bowdoin College (9-4) for the first time since 1999.
Winning at home, the Beavers, led by Ben Johnson with 19 points and 10 rebounds, ended their 15-game losing streak against the Polar Bears.
USM 64, UMASS-BOSTON 58: Conor Sullivan scored 12 of his 16 points in the second half to help Southern Maine (10-6, 5-1 LEC) rally past the University of Massachusetts-Boston (8-7, 2-4), at Gorham.
The Huskies were aided by Alex Kee's 13 points while James Odneal added 11.
NHTI 78, SMCC 65: New Hampshire Technical Institute beat the Seawolves (16-4, 10-2) at South Portland, despite 21 points by SMCC's Emmanuel Donalson.
Freshman guard Jon Amabile of Deering added 16 for the Seawolves.
EASTERN NAZARENE 61, UNE 55: Chima Ezeigbo scored 20 points to lead the Crusaders (10-3, 5-2) as they never trailed in a Commonwealth Coast Confernece win over the Nor'easters (2-12, 1-6) at Biddeford.
