SOUTH PORTLAND – Robbie Hamilton drove in three runs and also stole home Saturday to lead fourth-seeded Saco and Biddeford Savings Bank of Westbrook to a 6-2 victory against top-seeded Moody’s Collision of Gorham in the opening game of the four-team, double-elimination Zone 4 American Legion baseball tournament at Wainwright Field.

Westbrook (10-6-1) broke a 1-1 tie in the second inning when Austin Blake singled, stole second and scored on Joe Quinlan’s double.

Zach Bean of Westbrook pitched the complete game against Gorham (16-2), striking out eight, giving up six hits and two walks.

ANDREWS POST 5, CUMBERLAND 0: Nate Smart scattered seven hits with seven strikeouts and no walks to lead second-seeded Portland (15-1-3) over third-seeded Greely (11-8) in the Zone 4 tournament at South Portland.

After scoring a pair of runs in the first inning, Portland extended its lead to 4-0 on a two-out, two-run single by Kyle Reichert in the fourth.

MASSEBESIC SWEEPS BIDDEFORD SAVINGS BANK: Remi Gaetjens threw a three-hitter and also had two hits and two RBI, and Brian Wardwell went 4 for 4 with three doubles and two RBI as Massbesic downed Biddeford 11-1 in six innings in the second game of a Zone 5 doubleheader at Waterboro.

Massabesic won the opener 6-5 behind a complete game from Corey Mongiat. Caleb Campbell led Massabesic with two hits and an RBI.

Taylor Reuillard of Biddeford had three hits, two RBI and two runs.

FAYETTE-STAPLES SWEEPS TITAN POST: Cam Jackman doubled home Caleb Burpee in the ninth inning before scoring on Drew Gelinas’ single as Thornton (11-7) won the second game 7-5 at North Berwick.

Ryder Kenney scored four times and Ben Lambert three during a 10-9 Thornton victory in the first game.

STAPLES CROSSING SWEEPS SACO BAY PT: Matt Brenner doubled home two runs and scored a third as Marshwood (15-0) scored eight times in the fifth inning en route to an 11-9 victory over York (8-8-1) in the second game at South Berwick.

Marshwood won the first game, 6-2. Marshwood took a 4-3 lead in the third when Tyler Pratt’s single to left scored Zack Quntal and pulled away to a 6-3 lead with a two-run fourth.

JUNIOR LEGION

LIBBY-MITCHELL 9, LYMAN 8: Brendan Kane and Tim Ross had a double and single apiece during an eight-run sixth inning as Scarborough (5-13) rallied from a 7-1 deficit and held off visiting Lyman (14-3-1).

Kane also earned the win, striking out the side after entering in the sixth.

WESTBROOK SWEEPS POST 86: Pat Weimer had three hits and scored twice as Westbrook (12-6) combined to score nine runs in the fifth and sixth inning in an 11-6 victory against Gray-New Gloucester (7-11) in the opener at Gray.

Westbrook won the second game 11-0 in five innings.

STANDISH POST 128 4, SACO & BIDDEFORD SAVINGS BANK 3: Kyle Jordan scored on Reid Wallingford’s sacrifice fly to center as visiting Bonny Eagle (8-10) manufactured a run in the 10th inning to beat Biddeford (9-9).

Jordan reached on an error, stole second, went to third on a wild pitchand scored without a play at the plate.

BRUNO’S 6, SOUTH PORTLAND 2: Owen Pence threw a three-hitter with 10 strikeouts and no walks, and Nick DiPalma had two hits and three RBI as Portland (14-4) downed visiting South Portland (11-7).

Portland finished the regular season with a nine-game winning streak.

LITTLE LEAGUE SOFTBALL

SCARBOROUGH 10, BRISTOL, VT. 8: Sydney Plummer hit a two-run single during a seven-run second inning and Scarborough (1-1) held off Bristol (0-1) at the Little League 11-12 Eastern Regional at Bristol, Conn.

Scarborough next plays Derry, N.H., at 2 p.m. Monday.

BABE RUTH 14

AUGUSTA 13, PORTLAND 5: Justin Rodrigue, the winning pitcher, had two singles and a double to lead Augusta (1-1) past Portland (0-2) in an elimination game at the state tournament at Fairfield.

Nick Archambault, James Sinclair and Ryan Caiazzo singled for Portland.

JUNIOR LEAGUE

FALMOUTH 9, ELLSWORTH 1: Robbie Armitage hit a double and two singles, and drove in three runs as Falmouth (1-0) downed Ellsworth (0-2) in the state tournament at Bangor.

Reese Armitage added an RBI triple and a double for Falmouth, which scored three runs in each of the first two innings.

BRONCO 8, FALMOUTH 1: Andrew Gendreau pitched a four-hitter as Bronco, representing Hermon, Hampden, Newburgh and Winterport, advanced to Sunday’s 4 p.m. state final at Bangor.

Chris Camelio had a pair of singles for Falmouth, which plays Ellsworth in Sunday’s 1 p.m. semifinal.

NECBL

MAINERS 11, MUSKRATS 6: Sam Balzano and Billy Beresznizwics each had two hits, and combined to drive in three runs and score three times for Sanford (15-18), which scored five runs in the seventh inning and six in the eighth to rally past visiting Laconia (18-15).

Troy Black added a two-run double and scored, and Connor Castellano and Anthony Papio scored twice each for Sanford.

NAVIGATORS 8, RAGING TIDE 7: North Shore (17-17) scored four runs in the ninth to win at Old Orchard Beach.

Mekae Hyde went 3 for 5 with a solo homer and Graham McIntire added two hits, including a homer, two RBI and two runs for the Raging Tide.
