Wilson, Chabot-Boucher set pace at Father's Day race

PORTLAND — Jonny Wilson, 24, of Falmouth and Katherine Chabot-Boucher, 38, of Saco led a record field of more than 1,300 participants at the fourth annual Portland Sea Dogs Father's Day 5K on Sunday.

Wilson crossed the finish line in front of the third-base dugout at Hadlock Field with a gun time of 15 minutes and 32 seconds, beating defending champion Chris Harmon, 24, of Scarborough by 19 seconds. Julian Gazzelloni, 20, of Windham was third in 16:07.

Chabot-Boucher won the women's division by almost a full minute, finishing with a gun time of 18:26. Andrea Newton, 27, of Portland edged Gretchen Speed, 31, of Brookline, Mass., for second place. Newton crossed the line in 19:16, three seconds ahead of Speed.

The winners each received two Sea Dogs season tickets for the rest of 2012 and will get to throw out the first pitch at an upcoming game.

There were 1,358 total finishers, nearly 200 more than last year.
