AUGUSTA – Windham came out of the losers’ bracket to win twice Saturday and become one of the three teams to advance to the final day of the American Legion baseball state tournament.
After hanging on for a 7-6 win against Pastime Club of Lewiston in an elimination game, the Merchants rolled to a 10-6 victory over Saco & Biddeford Savings of Westbrook, the last team to lose in the double-elimination tournament.

Windham will play Bangor at noon Sunday at Morton Field. The winner will play Westbrook at 3:30 p.m. for the state championship.
Windham has avoided elimination three times since losing on the first day of the tournament.
“I’m not really surprised,” said Windham catcher Spencer Hodge, who caught a total of 18 innings Saturday. “We’ve got a great group of kids here. We’re really a comeback team. That has been us this year.”
Against Westbrook, Windham scored five runs in the top of the fifth inning to take an 8-3 lead. Four walks, a hit batsman, a passed ball, two throwing errors, and singles by Ethan Petry and Nate Boyle produced the scores.
“We just capitalized on what they did wrong,” Hodge said.
Cody Dube, who had a single and three doubles, drove in three runs for Windham. Joey Francoeur and Shawn Francoeur also had run-producing hits.
Robbie Hamilton drove in three runs for Westbrook.
Earlier, the Merchants took advantage of eight errors to oust Pastime Club.
The Francoeur twins each had two hits. Corbin Hyde hit a run-producing double and a two-run homer as Pastime (17-6) scored its runs over the last three innings.
BANGOR 12, STAPLES CROSSING 6: Justin Courtney scattered seven hits and allowed three earned runs in seven innings to help keep Bangor alive.
Courtney, an incoming senior who verbally committed to play baseball at the University of Maine, also drove in two runs with a second-inning double to help stake Bangor to a 5-2 lead.
Curtis Worcester hit a double and a single for Bangor.
Zach Quintal had three singles for the South Berwick team, which finished 18-6.
WESTBROOK 9, BANGOR 3: Westbrook became the last unbeaten team in the tournament by cruising to a win in a game that was suspended Friday because of rain.
Robbie Hamilton had three hits, including a two-run homer, to bring his RBI total to 13 for the tournament.
Winning pitcher Keenen Lowe had two singles, a double and two RBI.
STAPLES CROSSING 16, RED BARN 6: The South Berwick club scored 10 runs over the final three innings to eliminate Red Barn of Augusta.
Max McComb led Staples Crossing’s 19-hit offense with three doubles.
Matt Brenner added two singles and a triple.
Zach Lachance hit a triple and a single for the Augusta club, which finished 18-5.
