Boys' Roundup: York pulls away to down Capers

CAPE ELIZABETH - Aaron Todd scored 11 of his 22 points in the third quarter Friday night to help York pull away to a 65-47 victory against Cape Elizabeth in a Western Maine Conference schoolboy basketball game.

The Wildcats (12-1) took advantage of offensive rebounds and outscored the Capers 23-10 in the third quarter to take a 50-29 lead. Zachary Leal added 18 points for York.

The Capers (9-4) got 11 points from Edward Galvin and 10 from Peter Pfister.

BONNY EAGLE 73, GORHAM 58: Ben Malloy had 26 points and Dustin Cole scored 24 to power the Scots (11-3) past the Rams (5-8) at Gorham.

Malloy connected on seven 3-point shots. C.J. Autry added 14 points for the Scots.

Elliot Spears had 14 points and Jonathan Woods totaled 13 for the Rams.

SCARBOROUGH 70, SANFORD 55: Brendan Hall and Sam Terry scored 16 points apiece to lead Scarborough (9-5) over the Spartans (6-8) at Sanford.

Dillon Russo added 12 points for the Red Storm, who took a 21-14 lead in the first quarter. Scarborough shot 12 of 14 from the foul line in the fourth.

Ryan Camire scored 20 points for the Spartans. Evyn Nolette sank four 3-pointers.

THORNTON ACADEMY 73, NOBLE 58: Quinn Richardson-Newton scored 20 points, including 9 of 10 from the foul line, to lead Thornton Academy (9-5) over Noble (4-10) at Saco.

Jeff Gelinas added 18 points and Reuben Moses scored 16 for the Trojans.

Sean Jackson had 14 of his 18 points and Grayson Waterman added 16 of his 17 in the first half as Noble took a 35-32 lead.

YARMOUTH 77, TRAIP ACADEMY 54: David Murphy poured in 26 points with five 3-pointers to spark the Clippers (7-6) past the Rangers (5-8) at Yarmouth.

Adam LaBrie contributed 18 points and Nate Shields-Auble scored 15 for Yarmouth.

Atencio Martin paced Traip with 20 points.

GREELY 64, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 45: Michael McDevitt had 15 points and 13 rebounds, and Bailey Train added 11 points and 11 boards to help the Rangers (8-5) beat the Patriots (3-10) at Cumberland.

Greely also got 14 points from Conner Hanley. Train scored eight in the first quarter, when the Rangers took a 20-8 lead.

Will Shafer scored 20 points for Gray-New Glocuester.

MT. ARARAT 78, ERSKINE ACADEMY 56: Alex Lapierre scored 19 points, hitting 5 of 9 3-pointers for Mt. Ararat (6-8) against Erskine Academy (1-13) at Topsham.

Shyheim Ulrickson added 16 points and Tyler Roberts had 12 for Mt. Ararat. Caleb McGuire scored 24 for Erskine.

WINDHAM 51, KENNEBUNK 49: Thomas McGowan had 21 points to lift the Eagles (5-9) to a come-from-behind victory against the Rams (1-13) at Kennebunk.

Hank Lapham scored 15 to help Kennebunk build a 27-14 halftime lead.

Spencer Hodge had 11 of his 12 points in the third quarter for Windham to spark the comeback.

McGowan finished with 13 free throws and was 9 of 9 at the line in a fourth quarter that saw Windham use an 18-8 run to wipe out a 41-33 deficit.

MARSHWOOD 54, BIDDEFORD 49: Daniel Veino scored 21 points and the Hawks (6-8) used a fourth-quarter push to get past the Tigers (4-10) at Biddeford.

Jack Letellier chipped in 12 points and Brady Innes had 10 for the Hawks, who outscored the Tigers 17-9 in the closing minutes.

Cam Nadeau had 15 points and Nicholas Leblond added 13 for Biddeford.

MORSE 70, MARANACOOK 46: Matt Munster led four players in double-digit scoring with 19 as the Shipbuilders (5-9) upended the Black Bears (6-8) at Readfield.

Liam McDonough had 14 points, Ethan Winglass added 11 and Kevin McKellar 10 for Morse.

Kyle Boucher led Maranacook with 13 points.

FREEPORT 62, POLAND 56: Chandler Birmingham scored 23 points for Freeport (2-11), which used an 18-12 run in the final 4:30 to beat the Knights (3-10) at Poland.

The Falcons scored 30 points in the fourth quarter, rallying from a five-point deficit. Jack Davenport added 13 points and Matt Schultheis had 10.

C.J. Martin and Nick Allen scored 12 points apiece for the Knights.

SOUTH PORTLAND 67, CHEVERUS 44: Jaren Muller scored 19 points to lead the Red Riots (12-2) over Cheverus (3-9) at South Portland.

South Portland shot 88 percent from the free-throw line.

Tanner Hyland finished with 16 points and Ben Burkey scored 10 for the Riots.

Andrew Ferrick paced the Stags with 11 points.

VALLEY 60, HYDE 54: Valley (12-2) pulled away from a halftime tie to down the Phoenix (10-2) at Bingham.

The Cavaliers' defense down the stretch was a difference in the game.

VINALHAVEN 58, RANGELEY 21: Shane Carlson had 10 points as the Vikings (3-10) beat the Lakers (2-8) at Rangeley.

MEDOMAK VALLEY 66, LEAVITT 51: John Murray scored 28 points, and Ryan Ripley had 12 points and 16 rebounds as the Panthers (11-2) downed the Hornets (4-9) at Waldoboro.
