YORK — Aaron Todd scored 10 of his game-high 23 points in the first quarter Tuesday night as York opened a 13-point lead and went on to beat previously undefeated Falmouth 65-39 in a Western Maine Conference schoolboy basketball game.
The game matched the top two teams in Western Class B. York (16-1) suffered its only loss in its first meeting with the Yachtsmen (16-1) at Falmouth.
Zachary Leal and Hayden Webster added 14 points apiece for the Wildcats, who led 34-22 at halftime, then pulled away to a 52-29 advantage after three quarters.
Grant Burfeind scored nine points on three 3-pointers to lead Falmouth.
MARSHWOOD 65, MASSABESIC 45: Daniel Veino scored 22 points to lead the Hawks (8-9), who pulled away from the Mustangs (1-16) in the second half at South Berwick.
Veino scored six points in the third quarter as Marshwood, down 25-22 at halftime, outscored Massabesic 21-7 to take a 43-32 lead.
Casey Nava paced the Mustangs with 16 points.
SCARBOROUGH 43, THORNTON ACADEMY 40: Kevin Manning and Brendan Hall scored five points apiece in the fourth quarter as the Red Storm (11-6) rallied from a five-point deficit against the Trojans (10-7) at Scarborough.
Manning finished with 12 points and Hall scored 11 for Scarborough, which outscored Thornton 15-7 in the fourth quarter after trailing 33-28 through three.
Quinn Richardson-Newton led the Trojans with a game-high 16 points.
DEERING 64, CHEVERUS 52: Labson Abwoch scored a game-high 23 points to lead visiting Deering (14-3) past Cheverus (5-12) at Portland.
Dominic Lature added 16 points for the Rams.
Emmanuel Ismail paced the Stags with 12 points.
GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 59, GREELY 48: Brandon Thibeault scored 12 points to lead the Patriots (4-13) over Greely (9-8) at Gray.
Thibeault hit three 3-pointers in the second quarter as the Patriots went on a 25-9 run to take a 42-17 lead at the half. Andreas Kariotas added 11 points and Will Shafer went 5 of 6 from the line in the fourth quarter for Gray-New Gloucester.
Michael McDevitt paced Greely with 14 points. Jordan Normandeau scored 11.
FRYEBURG ACADEMY 58, LAKE REGION 40: Walker Mallory scored 14 of his game-high 20 points in the second half as the Raiders (9-8) pulled away from the Lakers (4-13) at Naples.
Bright Amoako added 14 points for Fryeburg.
Mike Mageles led Lake Region with 11 points.
WELLS 75, TRAIP ACADEMY 69: Jake Moody and Dylan Stevens scored 27 points each to help the Warriors (10-7) get by Traip Academy (6-11) at Wells.
Moody hit 5 of 6 free throws in the fourth quarter.
Atencio Martin scored 22 points and Evan Pereira added 14 for Traip.
BIDDEFORD 55, KENNEBUNK 50: Nick Leblond and Cam Nadeau scored 16 points each, helping the Tigers (5-12) down Kennebunk (1-16) at Biddeford.
Hank Lapham scored 18 points and Nate Gilbert 11 for the Rams.
WINDHAM 58, GORHAM 44: Spencer Hodge and Dylan Weisser scored 15 points each for the Eagles (7-10) against Gorham (6-11) at Windham.
Thomas McGowan added 13 points for Windham, which used a pressure defense to limit Gorham to 13 points in the first half.
Weisser hit two 3-pointers in the fourth quarter.
Alex Owens led Gorham with 11 points.
SANFORD 68, NOBLE 56: Ryan Camire scored nine points and John Morgan added eight in the second quarter as the Spartans (9-8) used a 24-10 run to take a 33-16 lead against Noble (4-13) at Sanford.
Evyn Nolette sank three 3-pointers to help balloon the lead to 22 points in the third quarter.
Grayson Waterman, who finished with 27 points, led a comeback that sliced the margin to six before Sanford pulled away.
NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 63, BUCKFIELD 33: Colby Bate had 20 points and four assists to lead the Panthers (7-10) over Buckfield (9-9) at Buckfield.
Chase Gendron contributed 13 points, 11 rebounds and three blocked shots for North Yarmouth.
CAPE ELIZABETH 48, YARMOUTH 44: Edward Galvin scored 14 points and Chad Peterson had 11 rebounds to lead the Capers (12-5) over Yarmouth (10-7) at Cape Elizabeth.
Peterson also had three assists and four steals for Cape, which took a small lead in the third period before Adam Labrie nailed a 3-pointer in the fourth to bring the Clippers back.
HYDE 64, A.R. GOULD 52: Ryan Cassidy scored 19 points for the Phoenix (14-3), who took a 19-point halftime lead and cruised over the Bears (11-6) at Bath.
Warsame Mohamed added 11 points, nine rebounds and five assists, and Wilson MacMillan scored 14 points for Hyde.
FREEPORT 51, POLAND 45: Jeremy Ketch made three 3-pointers in the fourth quarter as the Falcons (3-14) closed the game on a 21-6 run to rally past the Knights (4-13) at Freeport.
Chandler Birmingham led Freeport with 18 points, including four 3-pointers, and Landon Easler added 11 points.
BRUNSWICK 63, ERSKINE 35: Blake Gordon scored 14 of his 19 points in the first half to help the Dragons (9-8) defeat the Eagles (2-15) at Brunswick.
Alex Bandouveres added 17 points for the Dragons, who led 37-15 at halftime. Ryan Black was also in double figures with 12 points.
MORSE 57, LINCOLN ACADEMY 46: Ethan Winglass scored a game-high 27 points as the Shipbuilders (6-11) downed the Eagles (3-14) at Bath.
VALLEY 94, ISLESBORO 28: Carrington Miller and Josh West each had a triple-double in leading the Cavaliers (15-3) over Islesboro at Bingham.
MEDOMAK VALLEY 60, OCEANSIDE 58: Jonathan Hendrikson-Belloguet hit a 3-point basket with 12 seconds left in overtime as Medomak Valley (15-2) beat Oceanside (13-4) at Waldoboro.
