BIDDEFORD - Kendall Carr scored on a breakaway midway through the first period Wednesday night and York went on to open its schoolgirl hockey season with a 1-0 victory against Biddeford at the Biddeford Ice Arena.
Abby Cruz delivered the pass that sent Carr in on the breakaway.
Oliva Drew made 24 saves for the shutout against Biddeford (1-1).
GREELY 6, BRUNSWICK 0: Mary Morrison and Meg Finlay each had a goal and an assist to help the Rangers (2-0) down the Dragons (0-2) at Falmouth.
Chelsea Andrews, Delaney Curtin, Danita Storey and Paige Tuller also scored for Greely, which held Brunswick to four shots.
Claire Mendes came up with 31 stops for the Dragons.
CAPE ELIZABETH/WAYNFLETE 2, YARMOUTH/FREEPORT 2: Emily Spidle scored with an extra skater on and 1:06 remaining to pull the Capers (0-0-1) even with the Clippers (1-1-1) at Yarmouth.
Emily Johnson, who scored twice, gave the Clippers a 2-1 lead at 2:46 of the second period.
Ariel Potter had two assists for Yarmouth/Freeport.
Kathryn Clark had a first-period goal for Cape Elizabeth/Waynflete.
