A HERO IS LAID TO REST
More than 1,000 mourners turned out Thursday for a service for Aaron Feis, the popular football coach who was killed in last week’s shooting while helping students to safety. Joe LaGuardia, who attended high school with Feis, 37, at Stoneman Douglas, described him as “one of the greatest people I have ever known.” Feis, a 1999 graduate of Stoneman Douglas, appears at left with an unidentified child. “People called him ‘the mayor of Parkland,'” said former coach Mike Virden during the service. “Because if you needed anything or anyone, he was the guy to go to.” Feis’ casket was carried from the church by six of his players, dressed in their black and red jerseys.
