Maine Education Commissioner Susan Gendron will speak at a regional forum on changes to Mainei?¿1?2s school funding formula on Wednesday, March 9, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the South Portland Community Center.

Gendron, a former assistant superintendent and special education director in Scarborough, will be hosted by Sens. Lynn Bromley and Phil Bartlett, both Democrats whose districts include Cape Elizabeth, South Portland and Scarborough; and Scarborough, Westbrook and Gorham, respectively.

Recent changes to the education funding formula show that South Portland, Cape Elizabeth and Scarborough will receive additional state education aid next year. Democratic Reps. Larry Bliss, Jane Eberle and Connie Goldman will also be in attendance to help answer questions about the recent passage of Mainei?¿1?2s tax relief package and the increase in education aid to area communities.
