Windham Remembered

The picture this week was loaned by a woman who grew up in this house where her family farmed. It’s located on Route 302. The Atherton family who lived here, supplied milk and eggs to the Gates Restaurant which was across the street. Later the restaurant was moved down the street, beyond the Drowsy Pine Lodge, located “at the edge of the woods.” All of this land had been part of the Atherton place. Today, we know these three locations as Pinelyne Furniture (shown here in it’s original state), KTO Builders (formerly Kelton Oil, formerly Drowsy Pine Lodge), and the Lakes Region Medical Center (first Gates and then Rich’s Restaurant). The landscape of Windham has always been changing.
