The committee searching for a new Cape Elizabeth Middle School principal has announced they have two finalists for the post: Steven B. Connolly of South Portland and Dennis J. Duquette of Raymond. Connolly is currently assistant principal of Portland High School and Duquette is principal of Gorham Middle School.

Each candidate will spend part of a day visiting Cape Elizabeth Middle School to meet with teachers, students and parents. Duquette will visit on Thursday and Connolly will visit on Friday.

The schedule is the same for each candidate: from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. the finalists will have lunch with and meet different teacher groups, from 12:45 to 1:30 p.m. the finalists will meet with Student Council representatives, and from 1:45 to 2:30 p.m. the finalists will field questions from parents and the public. Anyone wishing to participate should sign in at the school office and get directions from there.

The search committee hopes to have a recommendation for this position to present to the School Board soon after April vacation.

Outgoing middle school Principal Nancy Hutton announced her retirement in early February and it will take effect on June 30. Hutton has had a 25-year career in the Cape Elizabeth school system, 15 of which have been as the middle school principal.
