How we built our own Modular Dock

Charles Reeder and Jerry Rehm built their own modular dock and would like to share this information with you. They can easily install it in the spring and remove it in the fall without ever having to pay an outside contractor to do it for them. They have a video and handouts to share and will explain the procedure. This program will be at the library on Wednesday, June 15 from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Reading Group

The book discussion group will meet Wednesday, June 29 at 7 p.m. The June selection is, “Stranger in the Kingdom,” by Howard Frank Mosher. This discussion group is open to all interested persons. Please call the library at 655-4283 for more information.

Annual Plant and Paperback Book Sale

Saturday, June 25 is the day to get up early and get to the Raymond Village Library. Beginning at 7 a.m. is the Annual Plant and Paperback Book Sale, for which we have all been waiting. As in previous years, we are able to offer many varieties of outdoor as well as indoor plants, at significantly reduced prices, as well as many paperback books for your summer enjoyment.

We thank you for the wonderful participation of previous years and continue to depend on the donations and purchases of our supporters, and well as those donating plants to bring them to the library the night before between the hours of 4 and 7 p.m. This way they can be arranged and priced.

Independence Day

The library will be closed on the Fourth of July. We wish everyone a safe and happy Fourth.

Bats and Owls

Jocelyn Hubbell grabbed the attention of the 25 children who attended the Bats and Owls Program at the Raymond Village Library during April vacation week. Through a slide show, demonstrations and the dressing of chosen participants as a bat and owl, Jocelyn described and explained interesting information about the lives and lifestyles of both nighttime creatures. All who attended were also given a suggested reading list for more interesting facts along with a fun bat craft to make. This nature program was made possible by a grant for the Loon Echo Land Trust through the Helen Allen endowment.

Summer Reading Program

The summer reading program begins July 10. For more information, please call the library at 655-4283.

Harry Potter Party

On July 10 at The Center for Performing Arts (what was Christ Chapel Church), at 6:30 to 8:30 will be the first Harry Potter Night! This will be a night filled with Harry Potter-themed activities ranging from making Slime to a game of Nerf Quidditch. There will be great prizes and a performance by the Magical Karen Seymour and a drawing for the quilt/book and wand.
