Anthoni Jensen, 25 of Naples, is being held at the Cumberland County Jail after allegedly assaulting an oil truck driver in what authorities are calling a “classic road rage incident” that took place on Sunday, Oct. 2.

According to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department, the oil truck driver, Michael Grovo of Scarborough, crossed the centerline while driving on Route 114 forcing Jensen to swerve his car to avoid hitting the truck.

Aggravated by this, Jensen then chased the truck. When Grovo finally pulled over on the Naples Causeway, a fight ensued in which Jensen allegedly hit Grovo with a beer bottle, punched and kicked him. When police arrived, Grovo was found unconscious with several injuries.

“We had an officer that had just made an arrest just west of the causeway so he was the one who made contact with victim,” Kevin Joyce said, chief deputy for the Sheriff’s Department. “Witnesses said the assaulter had fled in a gold-colored car.”

Police pursued and pulled the car over on Route 302 in Casco only to discover that Jensen had been dropped off near Tommy’s Variety and had fled into the woods.

After attempting to outrun police dogs, Jensen was later arrested by an officer as he ran out of the woods onto Route 11.

Jensen faces charges of aggravated assault, drug possession, operating under suspension and violation of probation.
