Dave Thompson, who served as chief executive officer of the Cumberland County YMCA for five years, has been named the YMCA’s new capital campaign director and Scarborough branch director.

His duties will now include the administration of the association’s three capital campaigns, as well as the development of the Scarborough Family YMCA.

Thompson is working with the capital campaign cabinet, led by volunteers Dick and Peter Michaud. Other cabinet members include Mark Doiron, Dr. Don Endrizzi, Kristen Hanson, Neil Jamieson, Felicity Kerr, John Massengill, Dr. Doreen Morrow, Skip Sullivan and Cyndy Taylor. This group meets weekly to prospect and solicit the high level donors needed at the start of the capital campaign.

The other primary volunteer group involved with this project is the advisory board, led by Gary O’Donnell. Board members include Denise Clavette, Mark Doiron, Cyrus Hagge, Kristen Hanson, Heather Jamieson (chair of the program committee), Neil Jamieson, Paul Koziell (chair of the building community), Mike Niles and Cyndy Taylor.

The Scarborough Family YMCA will become the fifth branch of the Cumberland County YMCA – serving the Scarborough, South Portland, Cape Elizabeth, Gorham and Westbrook communities. It will join the Greater Portland Branch, Casco Bay Branch, YMCA at Pineland, and Otter Pond Camp.
