McLean delivers memorial lumber

George McLean last week delivered the material that was used to build the base for the traveling Vietnam memorial that arrived in Maine Tuesday.

McLean works for Hillside Lumber Company of Westbrook, the company that donated about $3,000 in lumber for the memorial. Steve Roberts of Gorham, a Marine Corps veteran, rode aboard the lumber truck with McLean.

The Dignity Memorial Vietnam Wall Experience will be open to the public Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 11, 12 and 13, at Southern Maine Community College in South Portland.

Roberts’ brother, John Roberts, was killed in action in Vietnam in 1967 while serving with the Marines.
