The Standish Town Council met Tuesday night to discuss the future of Standish Village.

The workshop was put together by council chairman Terry Christy, and included guests from the Standish Planning Board.

The purpose of the workshop was to discuss future village design and the recommended implementation of the design.

Design details include; roadway planning and use of range roads, land trusts, sidewalks, historical preservation and integrity, budget, and review of all land use ordinances.

The workshop resulted in the development of a roadway planning committee. The committee, which will need final approval from the town council before proceeding, will include town council members, planning board members, and citizens from each of the four districts.

Once formed, the committee will have monthly workshops to discuss and review progress on the project.

Citizens of Standish are encouraged to give their input on the project.
