Because I have heard from many parents with concerns about the bus routes and the long bus rides, I raised the issue of having a city council workshop with the school board on school busing. The school board’s transportation committee will be holding a meeting on this issue on Nov. 28 at 6 p.m. in room 114 at the Westbrook High School. The transportation committee has invited the council to attend as well as, of course, the public. I plan to attend and hope anyone concerned with this issue will also attend.

I believe that notice of this meeting will be in the local papers, on the city and school Web sites, on both access channels, and will go home with students in their Thursday folders. I will also mention this at the next council meeting. I also am writing this letter as another way to get the word out. If need be, we can schedule a further council workshop with the school board on this issue. I look forward to working with everyone to shorten the bus rides and to address other busing concerns.
