Scarborough High School seniors Allison Chamberlain, Hilary Curtis, Erica Jesseman and Kaitlynn Saldanha had a weekend to remember on the track. The foursome competed in three meets in a 24-hour period January 6-7.

The most significant achievement for the young ladies was running in the college division at the Dartmouth Relays in Hanover, N.H. Saldanha captured the 800-meter run with a winning time of 2:19.79. Chamberlain (2.24.62) and Curtis (2:24.93) finished sixth and seventh respectively. Jesseman ran a personal best 5:17.42 to place sixth in the college division mile.

The girl’s weekend started Saturday morning in Portland at the Expo with a regular season meet. Chamberlain (400), Curtis (800), Jesseman (mile) and Saldanha (600) all won their events to lead the Scarborough girls team to victory over Biddeford, Bonny Eagle, McAuley and South Portland.

After the Expo, it was a three-hour drive to Dartmouth to compete Saturday night in the high school 4 x 800 meter relay. The team finished fourth in a very competitive race. Their time of 9:43.83 was 19 seconds faster than last year at Dartmouth and is well below the record they set last year at the State Class A Track Championships.
