The third annual World Four-Square championships will turn a schoolyard classic into a hotly contested competition on Saturday, Feb. 3 at Bridgton Town Hall on North High Street.

For a $10 entry fee, players players from all over New England and as far away as Canada, Israel and Bermuda will converge and compete.

Several of last year’s winners will be back to defend their titles, including Men’s Champion Patrick Miller of Burlington Vt., and two-time Ladies Champion Dana Ostberg of Jamaica Plain, Mass.; two-time Senior Men’s Champion Tom Stockwell of Bridgton, and Junior champs Ben Stockwell and Erica Chute, also of Bridgton.

Hosted by Peter Lowell, executive director of the Lakes Environmental Association, this annual tournament supports the environmental work done in the Lakes Region. The tournament admission is free.
