These four Windham ladies – Jo-Ann Varney, Polly Peters, Marcia Varney and Eleanor Rollins – belong to the Red Hat group in Mims, Fla. All of them stay in Mims for the winter months. NASCAR in the Library

An impressive selection of NASCAR memorabilia from young collector Travis Emerson of Windham will be on display at the Windham Public Library through April 20. Travis got interested in NASCAR by watching races on TV and also by going to races at Loudon, N.H. with his father. He has proudly displayed 85 NASCAR Matchbox cars in the exhibit, as well as other NASCAR memorabilia. Since Dale Earnhardt Jr. is his favorite driver, Travis also has several items on display representing the famous # 8. Stop by the library for a look at this exciting collection! Call the library for more information or directions (892-1908). The Windham Public Library is located at 217 Windham Center Road, and is open 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday and Wednesday, 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday, and 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

Veterans

Mr. Robin Shepard, the state of Maine veterans advocate, will be at the Windham Veterans Center March 13 from 9 to 11 a.m. He will be assisting veterans in applying for benefits. This service is free and no appointment in necessary.

Anniversary

Wes and Beulah Mason, Varney Mill Road, celebrated their 15th wedding anniversary Feb. 28. Her son, Richard, and his wife, Maxine, came down from Oxford and took them out to lunch.

Home

Joey DeLeo came home March 1 after doing missionary work in Nevada, New Mexico and Arizona for a month. He will leave March 13 to return to Phoenix, Ariz. to the Christian Center to continue work with children who have no family.

Visit

Diane Bell, Jackie Birt and Jackie’s grandchildren, Hannah Shirley and Coleman Shirley have returned home from a trip to Florida. They stayed with Diane and Jackie’s parents, John and Eleanor Rollins in Mims for five nights. They visited the Brevard Zoo, Jetty Park and Beach. They also stayed in the Disney All Star Music Resort for two nights and went to Magic Kingdom, MGM Studios and Epcot Center. A great time was had by all, and the weather was great also.

Birthday

Hannah Moore, daughter of Ben and Jennifer Moore, King’s Lane, celebrated her fifth birthday Feb. 27. She had a pizza party at Pat’s Pizza with eight of her friends. They made princess wands, played Pin the Tail on the Donkey, ate lots of pizza and cake and had a great time.

Back Home

Bob and Sally Babb, Lotts Drive, returned home Feb. 21 after a 12-day stay in Daytona, Fla. The men in the group went to the Daytona 500 NASCAR race as well as other races during the week. The ladies opted for the pool.
