A resident at a motel in Old Orchard Beach set off a small fire while cooking Saturday night.
Firefighters responded to the Seabreeze Motel at about 9 p.m. According to Deputy Chief Norman Gendron, the fire was minor.
The fire started in an apartment unit in the motel on Foote Street.
Motel employee Sarah Scott said a resident in the unit was cooking on the unit’s stove when the fire started.
Flames on the stove set off the sprinkler system, which put out the fire, Gendron said. The only damage to the unit was from the water. Gendron said that the fire department left the scene at 9:42 p.m.
