The University of Maine School of Law Alumni Association and the school’s Environmental Law Society are hosting the Orlando Delogu Earth Day 5K, on Saturday, April 21, at 10 a.m. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. at the soccer fields at Back Cove in Portland.

Following the race there will be an Earth Day program including food, speakers, a local blue grass band and a raffle at the Law School, 346 Deering Avenue in Portland. The race is named after Maine Law professor and avid runner Orlando Delogu. Registration is open to the public.

Proceeds will fund an Environmental Law Society fellowship or grant for a Maine Law student to pursue work in environmental law. The first 150 racers will receive T-Shirts. The Environmental Law Society and the Alumni Association are also looking for sponsorships as well as volunteers to help with the race.

The cost to participate is $15 in advance and $18 the day of event. For students, the fee is $12 in advance and $15 the day of event. Participants can register online at www.mainelawalum.org/elsroadrace anytime before Wednesday, April 18.
