Long recognized as the kickoff to summer in Cape Elizabeth, the Family Fun Day is scheduled for Saturday, June 16, from 10:30 a.m.-5 p.m., at Fort Williams Park.

The event provides resident, nonprofit groups a chance to raise funds for their organizations in a relaxed atmosphere.

The planning committee is working to expanding the parade and the children’s games as well as the daytime entertainment, activities that have been some of the most popular. The goal is to provide more opportunities for family activities without taking away the ability of the vendors to raise funds. Organization that would like to participate in this year’s event should call Gene Weismann at 767-7111. Booth space is free; however, activities are subject to approval so that groups are not in competition.

Booth space is available for resident artists, as wll. Those interested should call Rose Kennealy at799-1674

The Family Fun Day Committee welcomes assistance in a variety of areas, particularly on the day of the event, including the parade, games and cleanup. Anyone interested in volunteering, or would like more information, should contact Ted Smith at 799-8515, or e-mail at tsmith02@maine.rr.com.

Rain date for the event is June 23.
