The Bonny Eagle boys track team finished seventh overall with 27 points. The Scots shared seventh place with Kennebunk.

While the Scots fell short in capturing any individual state titles, they did come very close in two events.

In the triple jump, sophomore Jamie Ruginski finished second with a distance of 42-00. The Scots also came close to an individual title in the 110-meter hurdles as sophomore Nate Doehler finished third in 15.97.

Doehler had a strong meet for the Scots, finishing fourth in the 300-meter hurdles, posting a time of 41.23. He also finished fifth in the javelin with a throw of 161-02.

The Scots also got a fourth place finish from Allen Cox in the 1,600-meter race walk. The senior finished the race in 7:36.62.

The Scots’ 4 x 800 relay team of Ruginski, junior Murphy Doughty, junior Mao Ye and junior Noah Schoneberg placed seventh with a time of 8:29.18.

Just like the boys team, the Bonny Eagle girls also scored 27 points at Saturday’s meet, which was good for a ninth place tie with Biddeford and Lewiston.

The 4 x 100 relay team of junior Katlyn Gardiner, sophomore Natasha Jamison, senior Amber Cronin and freshman Melissa Carrier was the top scorer for the Scots, finishing third with a time of 51.67, just under one second behind first place Gorham.

Carrier also placed well in two other individual events. She took fourth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.02 and placed fifth in the 200 at 27.14.

The Scots also had two top finishers in the 1,600-meter run. Senior Katherine Pagano finished fifth with a time of 5:26.76. Close behind her was freshman teammate Lauren Dudley, who crossed the finish line in sixth at 5:30.59.

Pagano also took sixth place in the 3,200-meter run with a time of 12:04.22 and Cronin finished fourth in the high jump at 5-00.

Eagles take 12th place

The Windham High Eagles boys track team finished in 12th place at Saturday’s Class A meet, scoring 21.5 points.

Senior Christopher Darling came the closest to winning an individual state title for the Eagles, finishing second in the javelin with a throw of 171-01.

Senior Travis Cook also had a good meet with two third-place finishes. He took third in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.9 and third in the long jump with a distance of 20-04.50.

Freshman Patrick Ciez also scored points for the Eagles, finishing sixth in the high jump at 6-00.

The Windham girls team scored three points at the meet, finishing 21st overall.

Freshman Reilly Sullivan finished sixth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:00.14 and junior Vanessa Rallis took seventh place in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.96.

Lakers compete in Class B state meet

The Lake Region girls track and field team scored 17 points at Saturday’s Class B state championship meet at Windham High School.

Junior Renee Nicholas won the state championship in the long jump at 16-09. She also placed fifth in the triple jump at 33-09.

The Lakers 4 x 100 relay team of Kari Cowperthwaite, Renee Nicholas, ZZ Leighton, and Krysti Leach finished fourth.

The Lake Region boys scored 12 points at Saturday’s meet thanks to a third-place effort from Jake Moore in the 300-meter hurdles, a sixth-place finish from Phil Ellis in the triple jump, and a fourth-place finish from Luke Elliot in the pole vault.
