Not-so-kind gesture

On June 19, at around 12:30 p.m., a man was swearing and making obscene gestures to passing cars on Griffin Road. The man was taken to Maine Medical Center for mental issues.

SoPo shopping spree

On June 19, at around 1 p.m., a woman reported that her purse had been stolen from a shopping cart at Wal-Mart. Charges at various locations in South Portland were made on her credit card, totaling $3,300.

Georgia on my mind

On June 20, around 12:30 p.m., a female resident of Piper Road reported getting harassing phone calls at all hours of the night. The calls were traced to Atlanta, Ga.

Hokey hit man

On June 23, at around 1:30 p.m., a resident of Ross Road reported receiving an e-mail in which he was told that the subject that had sent the e-mail had been hired to kill him, but would not do it, if he paid him $80,000. According to police, this is a common e-mail scam.
