Gazebo concert

Jim Junkins Acoustic with Ann Sparling will entertain 6:30-8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 17, at the gazebo on the lawn at the Public Safety building, 270 Main St.

The concert is part of a free series sponsored by the Gorham Recreation Department. The series ends on Aug. 7.

Furry friends visit library

An annual pet show will be 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the North Gorham Public Library, 2 Standish Neck Road.

The program concludes a summer library series at the library. For more information, call 892-2575.

Golf fish story

A golfer recently had to fish his clubs and cart from a pond at the links.

A usually reliable Westbrook informant leaked the story that a Windham golfer waded into a pond at Gorham Country Club to retrieve his three-wheel golf cart. Apparently left unattended, the cart had rolled down an incline, hooked and plunged into the pond.

The golfer, who most likely was up to his neck in embarrassment, is not named.

U.S. taxpayer debt

The Bureau of Public Debt reported on July 5 that the U.S. public debt was $8,872,765,276,558.67
