A gift of Scarborough History available now: Scarborough at 350 – Linking the Past with the Present.

July 10-14^th 2008 Scarborough will celebrate its 350^th Anniversary. A great celebration is being planned, so hold these dates next summer. In preparation for this grand event a number of committees have been hard at work. A book committee will publish a 400 page coffee table book this November. The project has been four years in the making, with over 35 local contributors who have interviewed hundreds of Scarborough residents that shared stories, memories and photos, the book is being edited by Susan Dudley Gold, who grew up in Scarborough. Not only will this book be a historic treasure for Scarborough residents, it is the major fundraiser for the celebration.

This past week posters were hung all over Scarborough announcing that regular edition copies can be reserved now at Shirley’s Hallmark – 885-5671, Nestling Duck – 883-6705, Golden Pheasant – 883-3702, and The Breakers Inn – 883-4820. Only 2000 copies will be available, with 350 of those being reserved as signed and numbered limited editions. Special thanks to these participating selling locations, copies can be reserved now with the option to have your purchase gift wrapped with a card and shipped in time for holiday gift giving.
